It was expected. Good for Sheva as AC needs some striking help. Funny thing is, with all the changes Chelsea has seen I still see them in serious contention.

Hopefully he can rekindle the type of success he had there previously.

i hope shevchenko succeeds back in milan. he's been the last 2 seasons, but he's a much better player than he's shown at chelsea. 3 years ago, he was arguably the best striker in the world, and i wish him luck.

true D looks most competitive... maybe H if zenit can put up a fight. should be interesting seeing torres play his old team. i'm sure that will be emotional for him

im watchin juve and bayern as they're now back in the competition and i'm sure they'll be hungry

i didn't even think about that.

i liked it when ronaldo scored against sporting last season and apologized to the lisbon fans.

I would have to agree that Group D looks like the toughest. All good teams with I personally thinking that Marseille are the weakest, especially after Atletico destroyed Shalke 4-0 the other day. But also H looks pretty tough because we all know Zenit are a good team, after all they won the UEFA Cup last year...

My predictions:

Group A:
Chelsea
Roma

Group B:
Inter
Werder

Group C
Barca
Sporting

Group D
Liverpool
PSV

Group E
ManU
Celtic

Group F
Lyon
Bayern

Group G
Arsenal
Fenerbahce

Group H
Real
Juventus

I gotta admit there are some good sleepers in these groups and had a hard time making picks for the majority of the groups but that is what I came out with after lots of thinking.

i don't really follow zenit, but how much do they rely on arshavin?

i've read he hasn't had the best season thus far ever since the transfer rumors after euro2008. but i'd assume he's one of their best players.

Ok what the fuck... Robinho to Man City? First of all, way overpriced for him but guess those new owners don't give a fuck about $ lol. But who the fuck would want to go there? The only logical explanation I can have for that is because Real did not want to sell him to Chelsea regardless of their offer (cus they know Chelsea have a good team and could be a potential threat in the Champions League etc.) so Robinho agreed to the Man City transfer so in the upcoming January transfer window he can move to Chelsea. No way would he go to Man City and expect to play there for a long time lololol.

And Berbatov to ManU. Overpriced transaction as well but he is an exciting player to watch when he is on his game (unlike of late) and although I hate the fucking team, should be exciting to watch.

Still, Chelsea ftw!

Depends on how you look at it. I think the transfer is only 16mm, plus 6mm for Pele, plus performance bonuses. Whether or not Pele is actually worth 6mm is up for debate. The good thing is that Quaresma will allow Mourinho to go with his 4-3-3.

i'm still that city ended up with robinho.

it's funny how madrid got pissed off at chelsea for the way they were handling the robinho transfer, while they were being just as obnoxious with the cristiano ronaldo transfer.

anyways, robinho wanted out, and he got what he deserved.

the 30GBP for berbatov may be high, but we need him badly.

sounds funny comin from a chelsea fan...

i think almost all transfers people overpay to be honest... its getting ridiculous. was having a convo with a friend that eventually, its going to be a bunch of rich owners just battling it out with the big clubs in their real life version of "football manager" or "fifa 09". smaller clubs gonna keep getting pushed out until someone rich decides they want to save them. its unfortunate really.

hate these international breaks... gotta wait for robinho's man city debut vs the team who wanted him: chelsea! and then probably berbatov's debut in the rivalry match: liverpool vs united

That's right! Robinho got his glory... all 2 minutes worth until Chelsea tied.. then went on to pound them 3-1 btw Terry should have gotten a yellow card he was clearly not the last defender, the ref is fkin blind. bad call.

Finally! Liverpool end their drought against Man U with a dominant 2nd half. I just wish Gerrard did not have to come off the bench, but a win is still a win.

Anyone check out that "goal that never was" from the Reading vs Watford match this past weekend? LOL that linesman is such a blind idiot... (might want to turn your volume up a little since it is really low in the video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHVuragu40Q

Also, as I was browsing more videos I came across this one. Almeida or Porto's MONSTER freekick in the '05-'06 champions league. the view at the very end is just amazing.

Anyone else watching Atletico Madrid - Liverpool? Thought that penalty that allowed Gerrard to equalize was a pretty b.s. call, at least to my unseasoned eye

arsenal fans, chime in.

what the heck is going on over there?

what used to be a tight-knit and stable group is combusting rapidly.

gallas has lost his captaincy and looks like has been kicked out of the squad (well, at least for city).

now, i'm a believer in not airing out your laundry. however, sometimes it can work to bring a group together. however, i don't think this is that time.

lots of pundits are starting to talk (again) about wenger losing his job (which i don't agree with). but wenger should be blamed for this because:

1) he gave gallas the captaincy
2) he should have seen the warning signs way ahead
3) he still lacks a plan b, and no matter how beautifully they can play, this will still prevent them from winning the title
4) his transfer policy is still nobody's saying to spend 30GBP on a torres or tevez, but seriously?

anyways, like i said, i don't agree with the idea of sacking wenger. he's on that level where he should leave when he wants to. but this is a club that's on the verge of turmoil, and i wouldn't be surprised if a club like villa tips them for the 4th spot.
