My bad, that smilie can be confusing as hell.

And since we're natural rivals thanks to the Bengals/Steelers, you should be surprised that I'm rooting for them to beat the Bronco's

...but only because I can't stand the Bronco's

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Talk about a heart-stopping game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts.

Terry O'Neill, 50, of Pittsburgh, was watching the game at a bar and had a heart attack seconds after Jerome Bettis fumbled trying to score from the 2-yard line late in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger prevented the Colts' Nick Harper from returning the recovered ball for a touchdown and the Steelers hung on for a 21-18 win.

O'Neill said Bettis is his hero.

"I wasn't upset that the Steelers might lose," he told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I was upset because I didn't want to see him end his career like that. A guy like that deserves better. I guess it was a little too much for me to handle."

O'Neill, who was recovering at a hospital, credits two firefighters with saving him.

"The Steelers won the game and I'm still alive, so I guess I'm doing pretty good," he said.

He will have a pacemaker implanted to control an irregular heartbeat and he was prescribed medication to deal with the hypertension.

While he would like to go to the bar Sunday for the game against the Denver Broncos to thank the guys who saved him, O'Neill said, "I guess I should probably take it easy and watch the game at home."

I like the broncos...cuz its all about the system and not just the players...also, I just like how Denver stuffed it in every sportswriter's face....they were ragging on them for taking the Browns D-line.....how bad they were and why they would take 3 of the 4. Obviously, Shannahan is a lot smarter than all those idiots.

Obviously I have the benefit of hindsight, but Bill Simmons (aka the sports guy) couldn't have been more off:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...simmons/060113

COLTS (-9.5) over Steelers
A toss-up between Rule No. 10 ("Only pick an underdog or a road team if you're convinced it has a chance to win the game outright") and Rule No. 14 ("Don't try to be a hero, just try to win money").

The Steelers look like a fun pick this week: They're riding a nice little streak, have some playoff experience, looked borderline dominant in the second half of the Cincy game, and if the Colts come out rusty and allow Pittsburgh to hang around, the Steelers could imitate San Diego's Week 15 performance and hang tough until the end. Fine. I see it. Just two problems:

1. When these teams played in Week 12, the Colts dominated and would have won by about 40 points if they didn't keep making dumb mistakes in the first half (including four 15-yard penalties). At the start of the third quarter, trailing 16-7, Bill Cowher tried an onside kick that seemed woefully desperate. I just remember turning that game off and thinking, "Wow, those two teams aren't even close." So the spread doesn't bother me. At all.

2. Everyone seems caught up in how the Colts ended the season ... just remember, they went 13-0 and had the conference clinched before they blew that Chargers game. Maybe the 16-0 season was at stake, but was anything really at stake? Probably not. Then they rested everyone, and Dungy lost his son, which became its own subplot because it was such a tragic story. And then they had a bye. So we really haven't thought about the Colts in "Unstoppable Powerhouse" terms since Week 14, which happened five full weeks ago.

Here's my point: The Colts are a great team. They aren't crapping the bed at home to a team that they already handled by 22 points. That's ridiculous.

The Pick: Colts 41, Steelers 19

I guess he forgot Ben was rusty after his layoff for that monday night debacle, and the colts not having a meaningful game for a month probably didn't help them much.

Franklin, Neville and a 150-person backing choir will sing to a taped vocal track to be recorded in Detroit several days before the Feb. 5 game at Detroit's Ford Field, the Free Press reported on its Web site.

Bears? Quality?

At least my Bungals had a solid QB all year ...besides the little knee injury that is, but I'm betting on another one of Grossman's kankles to snap next year

Bent,

It's not, but the news people here took the surgeons quote's out of context and tried to say it was. But he cleared it up.

All it was is they found more damage when they were doing the surgery, but they repaired it and it's not supposed to affect how long his rehab will be. So last I heard he plans on being back sometime around training camp, or at the latest sometime in preseason.

Pfft. Imagine what Da Bears would've done compared to your Bungles if they HAD a decent QB.

Besides, at least my team has a D.

Edit: Except from the Carolina game. But, that's um discussion for another time.

DAAA Bears shoulda played how Parcells and dem boyz played...using bump and run in the beginning but a second safety shadowing STEVE SMITH.

Anyways, no one is talking about DA BUCS...the real #1 D. Funny how aroun dweek 12 everyone was saying the 2k6 bears are as good as the 2k ravens or the '85 bears...funny how they ended the season ranked number 2 to you know who

And if those buttfucken redskins didnt knock away 2 passes Chris Simms had a helluva game

And if Edell Sheppard wouldve caught the pass you woulda been looking at Bucs Panthers in the NFC SOUTH (scratch south) title game.

Glad to hear the news on Palmer because that would have sucked to finally get a QB again and lose him to that.

You do realize that the Bears gave the #1 ranking away in the last game against Minny, right?

They played almost no starters on defence that game to rest up for the playoffs. Besides, I think the game in Week 13 against your Bucs established who had the better team anyhoo...

And I don't recall the Bucs winning that tilt.

All along playing the "Tampa 2"

How are you in the top ten def in the NFL for ten straight years, have a def named after you and can not be considered the best ever.

2002 tampa def > 85 bears, steel curtain, etc....

I agree hundred percent. Tampa's cover 2 and its defensive coordinator: Papa Kiffin can switch players out and still own. ie John Lynch and Warren Sapp. Tampa owns jo0o

We missed a 29 yard field goal to tie so I don't think you made Tampa look that bad....

Lot of good it did you get that home field adv in you first playoff game.

As far as "playing no starters," I would say your division was a cake walk all year.

Meh. A win's a win. Not my fault your kicker can't kick?

Besides, holding your team to 10 points at your own stadium is doing pretty good.

And yes, the loss to the Panthers was a disgrace...but, I don't recall seeing your team do too hot against a Redskin team.
