The Official Honda S2000 Thread
Put my S2000 back together, and put on the new exhaust, and drove it yesterday, on the Öhlins for the first time.
If I wasn't going go a house pAAaaaAaarttayy in the city...I'd be driving that car today.....all damn day for no reason.

Really?
Push start it like a fucking MAN.
No, really? Mine makes that stupid overcrank sound when it's cool out...but it's still going strong. Battery good?

Just took the battery out and it was low on charge. I am going to pick it up in a few. I've been having that over crank noise in cold temps so that's why I figured the starter was bad but I wanted to check all bases before I pulled it out since it is a PITA to get to. I am going to replace it soon even if the car starts after the battery charge. I've read that the overcrank can damage the flywheel.

I've heard that even new units can develop that problem in a short time. You ain't gonna damage no flywheel, just be delicate with that digit of yours when pressing the button!
I'm not really a fan of the AP2v2 wheels though...
Glad you got it figured out Dennis. I've been having starting issues as well recently. The shop and tuner have it pegged down to the crank position sensor though so hopefully a new one fixes the issue I'm having.
Also, don't replace the starter until it doesn't work anymore. It's too much of a pain to get to just throw another one in for shits and giggles to get rid of that noise. It's too damn close to the knock sensor and you don't want to break that off. That sound you hear is quite common with the S2000 starter and as J stated, it can come back very quickly even after the stater is replaced. I have the same issue, but I don't even hear it anymore when starting my car because the exhaust is pretty loud and the whine from the cogged belt setup on the supercharger drowns it out completely.

Thanks bruh
She's pretty badass, last time I was in the car with her we were test driving it after replacing an O2 sensor / fluids / cleaned MAP, etc and I asked her:
"...Have you ever gone over 6k?"
"...no? Why? Doesn't it hurt it?"
"Hell nah mah, Do it!"
I laughed so hard as her face lit up.

That S2K is just asking for it..
lol, yeah everything is fine. Almost had a code brown on the on ramp to the freeway while I was going to work, managed to save it though. Cold tires on a cold day are like driving around on hockey pucks. Probably should have Jeeped it today but it's supposed to get up to the 60's this afternoon and I couldn't pass that up.

glad you know how to react to rwd...
people that never hoon, and haven't driven rwd their whole lives usually end up learning the hard way.
@ code brown.

I swear this thread has more activity than all of S2Ki. Eventhough I'm not on AZ much I try (try being the keyword) to read the daily email updates. However when you guys go through 3 plus pages of posts in a single day.... damn. I just don't have the time.
The weather in KS was good enough to take my baby out but I just couldn't do it. Have some meets coming up that I want her clean for so for now she's still under cover. I got a CTEC battery charger/reconditioner/maintainer. I've loved it for far. Small, informative, and easy to use. I'm hoping to use it on the TL once I get a good stretch of weather to set drive the S in. When I shut the TL down I get the bluetooth is disconnecting message to conserve battery life. That only happens when the battery isn't keeping charge. I've had to have serveral batteries replace in mine. I'm going with the Sear Platinum AGM battery next as I'm tired of the Acura ones. My upgrade the S to one of those too.

Good deal on an AP1 in case anyone is interested:

In the land of S2000s, where revs roam free, we're not shackled by the oppressive laws of engine abuse because they simply don't apply to us. We sing at the top of our lungs because it is our being, it is our given right.
We're not fast, we're borderline annoying, but with God as our witness, We Will Rev Freely.
S2Ki died a long time ago. But truth be told, AZine is probably the best forum I've ever been on. I've always been more active on here than any of the other forums I've been on for other cars.

I once organized a meet with the west coast section of S2ki and got a pretty good turnout, but the forum itself nowadays is a ghost town.
Been here since 2007
At some point I forgot the password to my original S2ki account, and created a new one in 2005. So even that account is over 10 years old.
See, that's where you're wrong.

The abuse comes from under revving, not redlining! That's why she's going to jail. The rest of you- as long as that engine screams, you'll always be in good hands.
