Mirror Puddle Light Replacement Question

Probably. I’m beginning to wonder if new mirror housings will be the only solution. I’m not overly concerned with puddle lights but it’s principle at this point. That feature was part of the price I paid so they should work, lol.
I have no idea. My passenger side is still going strong so I’m not sure what happened. It didn’t fail during a major storm or anything like before.

Quick update: 8 months of ownership, car washes every 1 to 2 weeks, mirror puddle lights working perfectly.
...did I just jinx myself?

Every car has is defective units. These problems are not common, especially when you see the consensus of actual owners form a community with pots of them instead of this forum which about less than half of posters here are owners. It’s just those with issues are likely to talk about it. I nor anyone I know with a TLX has had these issues. Let’s not blow things out of proportion, even if you have a vendetta against Acura.

Oh, you want context? Well here's what took us down this road.
Simply put, you said that these problems are not common. Do you still stand by it? It sure seems common enough when so many people who didn't join the forum to specificially complain about the problem are complaining about the problem, and in many case repeatedly because they're still having failures with the replacements.

I guess you can't read either. I literally bolded your words for you. You said the puddle light "issue" not a common issue; ergo not a real issue.

OK if you want to be pedantic about it, let me update my comment.
Clearly you're lying. I was told by a particular someone on this forum that the puddle light issue is not common and blown out of proportions by people with a vendetta against Acura. Since it's not a common problem, the chances of you legitimately experiencing this issue multiple times is very low, which suggests that you are probably lying, Mr. Pants on Fire.

So before ordering my '23 TLX Type S I stumbled across this thread so when I ordered mine, I specifically ordered the welcome lights too, After I got it home and went out to the garage later and sure as $hit the driver side puddle light was out but the passenger side was working. The color temperature and brightness between the two is so different that I'm just going to let the passenger one die as well and never get them fixed. The welcome lights are WAYYY brighter and a higher color temp. Just thought I would share. I even asked my salesman about the issue when ordering and if they had updated the lights for the '23 and he played dumb on the whole matter and hadn't heard of that ever being an issue.

Mine were dead on delivery. (2021 TLX Aspec) Replaced and died a couple of months later. Then I was told by my service manager that Acura was not replacing them anymore as they knew they would simply fail again. He said he wasn’t even sure if or when there would be a solution. He basically told me to forget about them as they may never resolve the issue.
The next driving season when I had my tires swapped I asked about them again. They said there was a new generation of the lights available. I had them put in and they have lasted all winter so far. Maybe I got lucky.

I think mine were also dead on delivery. I had them replaced a few months ago and have been fine ever since.

If I were in your situation, I would have the same feeling concerning the welcome lights are "good enough". Not everyone has welcome lights, unfortunately.

Yes, I didn't do a whole lot of options however that one makes the puddle lights obsolete. The welcome lights are VERY bright and crisp white. My one remaining puddle light is like a baby fart waft of warm light down the door panel and that's about it. I also did the black side skirts to tie the front and rear black elements together which I think is a must. Also did remote start and heated steering wheel along with some door edge and handle film. Oh, and the interior carbon package with all weather mats. I think that's about it.

Anyone else think the welcome lights should be standard on a Type S or at least the Advance?

I had both of my puddle lights replaced last July and they are still working.
I have an Advanced model and would have liked to have had them. I was thinking about getting them installed until I saw what needed to be done to install them by the dealer.

Funny part for me is with the automatically folding mirrors, the puddle lights almost seem silly. I only notice the Welcome lights when I approach the car (2022 Type-S). Never see the puddle lights.
Mine were dead on arrival December 2021, but were replaced a month later. Had to actually look today to see if they were still working (they are) as I never notice them. As the mirrors are folded when I approach the car, all I see is the Welcome lights.
PS - I live in SoCal and hand wash my car after every five or six speed shines. So I might not be a typical puddle light consumer.

You are right, with the folding mirrors you really don't see the puddle lights, another good reason to have the welcome lights.
I leave my mirrors out all the time and just fold them in when I park the car in the garage each night.

I have my mirrors set to power-fold whenever I lock the car. It also turns-out to be an easy way to see that the car is locked from a distance.

The Welcome lights (like many of the options) ... I just wasn't cool with the idea of the dealer tearing my new car apart to install them. Not sure why Acura didn't pre-install all or most of them to cut down on the disassembly involved ... it's mostly just some extra wiring-hardnesses.

Who was it here that said there's nothing wrong with the puddle lights and that it's just overblown by all the haters?

I've been far less active than when I had my TLX but I'll pop in once in a while to balance out the "bullies".

FWIW, mine still work. Did yours ever go out?
