Both puddle lights went out within 2 weeks of getting the car. Passenger side sometimes blinks but then goes out. Waiting for parts and dealer replacement. Sad.

I wouldn’t agree to a replacement mirror unless Acura agreed to cover the cost to ceramic coat and apply PPF to the mirror since I paid for these to be installed. The puddle light isn’t a big deal and it’s just going to happen again.

I’m not even sure if my passenger side mirror lights up anymore. Both may be out of commission.

An update: After both puddle lights failed to work the dealer replaced both mirror assemblies It took almost 8 weeks to get the parts. The installation is complete and both lights are currently working. We'll see what happens. Dealer parts department said each mirror lists for $600+. Wow!

My driver side seems to be acting up, flickering but the passenger side seems to be working fine. As much as I want it fixed. I will wait for a TSB to be available. they will want to replace bulbs at first im sure and then assembly's so why go through the hassle of all that as id have to take it in multiple times.

It's been a known issue for over a year so hope for the best but prepare for the worst...

Replacement Lights Different Color? White vs. Yellow

For those of you who have had your puddle lights replaced, are the replacement lights a different color than the original lights? I had my puddle lights (2021 TLX) replaced a few months ago and I could be wrong, but I swear they were originally a "white" light similar to the headlights. My replacement lights are a "yellow" color. Also, after being replaced, both went out about 3-4 weeks later. I asked if Acura had a fix for the issue and the dealership said no -- dealership said they were told to continue replacing with the problematic bulbs until a solution is found. Thanks.

My driver side light just went out...I've been covering the mirror housing while washing (and cleaning them separately) and they've been fine, but my last wash was "minor" so I left them uncovered. Also the car has been in a lot of rain (and snow) recently.

I can't believe Acura hasn't found a permanent fix. I was hoping to eventually figure out where the moisture intrusion point was and somehow sealing it myself.

I'm particular about every feature on a vehicle functioning as designed and would usually fix any problem immediately (especially under warranty), but in this case I'm not inclined to do so if the fix isn't permanent. I understand with the supply issues that tiny puddle lights that have no effect on the operation of the vehicle might not be a priority, but from what I understand this issue predates the pandemic and was apparent on the 1G TLX.

I have the originals and they are yellowish in color. A bright white color would be preferred.

My driver side light is still out as I haven’t taken it in to be replaced yet but the parts there. My passenger side continues to work normally.

I don't understand why the TLX puddle lights are having such problem. Acura had been using puddle lights on its vehicles for quite a long time. My 2014 MDX's puddle lights are still working flawlessly today.

Different side-mirror (so different construction) and likely different supplier. Finally, there are 2-3 different versions of the 2021-2022 TLX mirror.

It could be worse

Honda/Acura has been sitting on a problem with the GPS Nav systems since 2017:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money...0-00/605519001

It has been spreading like cancer, so far affecting every Nav equipped Honda or Acura in the world made before 2012. It hit my '07 Type-S the beginning or this month. Now the time is off by one hour and it thinks its May 2002! Not the first widespread problem my Type-S has had that Acura refuses to deal with.

Maybe the current ones lines were cut to short & are chaffing or pulling the plugs like the radios in the Hondas

I had the Welcome Lights installed on my 2022 Type-S TLX. Never notices the puddle lights working, most likely due to the welcome lights, but when I checked yesterday, they don't go on. 503 miles and 32 days .... when are they supposed to come on? When you unlock the car?

Unlocking the doors and also opening them.

Mine came on as I walked up to the vehicle with the fob on my person. Only when dark enough for the auto headlights to come on at night though. they don't work anymore. If they don't come on until you unlock/open the door they served no purpose but to light the puddle you already stepped in.

That's funny. Maybe that's why the call them "Puddle Lights" ... Surprise !

Also ironic that some Puddle-Lights are reportedly failing due to water ingress.

That is another reason. I forgot about that one but mostly because my driver side isn’t functioning anymore.

I am taking my car in Wednesday morning for some warranty work and a rim repair and small dent in rear panel from a rock. One of the items on the list is the puddle light so I’m just going to let them change it out.

I was going to go to my PDR guy but my buddy at Acura told me the mobile PDR guy they use can do it cheaper and has done work on his car. If he recommends the guy then I’ll go for it as he never steers me wrong. It’s funny because the scheduler asked him why I was so mean because when she called to schedule me for the parts that arrived I was very clear I only deal with him. 😂

I was nice but she sort of pressured it so I had to be a bit more forced with my answer lol. His answer to her was “He’s a great guy. But the wrong parts came before and he didn’t want to come in until I could confirm they were all here. And he only deals with me now. I mean, he did just drop $60K (slightly less but he estimated taxes) on a car and still comes to us. He should hate us!”

😂😂

is it really true they are failing due to water ingress? Any official word? Oddly mine stopped working when I switch my settings to not auto close the mirrors. I found that while the setting was on it was a pain to wash the car as it open/closed so much. After a few washes with the mirrors open my puddle lights went dark…

it was a cool feature but not really a deal breaker. Just unfortunate

He was joking that even after spending so much on a car I’m still willing to come back considering dealer prices tend to be higher than smaller shops. Also, add in the fact the parts that were ordered months ago were delivered and incorrect which delayed the repair which most spending money on a new car wouldn’t be happy with.

Where can I find the settings to disable the folding mirrors?.. It really is annoying when I wash my car too.

Until you find it, just don't lock the car while you are washing it.

I've also washed them while closed. There is just enough room to reach in carefully wipe the mirror clean.

Settings/vehicle/door setup/auto folding mirrors

I just adjusted my keyless access under the walk away auto lock. I found that also bugs me cause I have my keys in the pocket.

Found this works. I unlock the car from the house & leave the keys in the house.

Yep, I learned to not keep the keys in my pocket when washing the car. The mirrors kept folding in/out due to the sensors on the door handle.

On the plus side, my driver side puddle light is still hanging in there. Passenger side has been dead for a month or so now.

im worried in the winter now when it’ll be freezing and the mirror will freeze in closed position and then damage the motor when it tries opening

Must be an interlock of some kind to prevent damage. Frozen mirrors are a fact of life in the US. Have never had one break on any brand of car I have had. My current two cars mirrors are heated so expect they will stay folded till they thaw out.

Or put the key fob in one of those "Faraday key fob protector sleeves".

For example, https://www.ebay.com/itm/39364907557...IAAOSwpkphdoFb

Very handy in preventing high-tech thieves from stealing your vehicle, equipped with keyless access, right behind your back.

An Acura tech on FB group posted there is a Tech Line forum post stating a new version of the bulbs is available (same part number??)
I am going tomorrow morning for oil change, tire rotation to have them look at the puddle lights and will be requesting they search for the post and get me the newer bulbs.

Keep us posted as many of us are waiting for the TSB to be issued to have ours replaced. No use going in and having the same issue a few weeks later unless Acura has a fix for this issue finally !!!

I wonder if the bulb that just arrived at my local dealership a few weeks ago is the new model. It does seem a bit odd the part number wouldn’t change though.

Aaand as expected the dealer I went to was not helpful. I have Lamin-X on the headlights (clear) and fogs (yellow) First they called asking about my "aftermarket LEDs" in the fogs. I said those are overlays not different fog lights. Nothing has been replaced with aftermarket parts on the car I said. They were clearly going to blame those "LEDs". I asked if they looked for the Tech Line post he says they didn't find it. The poster on FB group is a legit guy, I have no thought that he is lying. I assume they did not look. When I dropped it I explained it was a common issue and that everyone is waiting for a fix after the first peeps had them burn out a second time. Their tech says he only has done 2 sets. Anyway they ordered bulbs keeping me in the loaner SHAWD Tech TLX until tomorrow. Was hoping for an RDX to try it out but no luck there. Hoping they are the newer bulbs but I'll have no way to know since this place was not interested in actually serving the customer

If only Acura enthusiasts worked at Acura dealers.....
I am fortunate that the service advisor that I work with is both an Acura enthusiast and a former technician at that dealership. When I mentioned my puddle light issue to him he knew immediately that it was a problem and advised changing it out whether the parts revised or not just so Acura hears us loud and clear.

I’ll be dropping my Type S tonight. I’ve gotten TLX loaners as of late but I wouldn’t mind an RDX. I have had them before as loaners and they’re fairly fun to drive.

I just had the dealership replace my passenger-side puddle long and noticed the driver-side is now out after I got home.

It seems like I was the very first person to bring my car in for the puddle light issue at the dealership that I purchased my Type S from (I waited over 2 months since the bulb was on back order). They weren't sure how to safely remove the mirror and replace the bulb so they also ordered a back up side-mirror housing in the event that the mirror did break when they take it apart and I wouldn't be stuck without a side mirror. Good thing that they did because they broke it and replaced the entire housing...the bad, I now have to get it PPF and ceramic coated again
