its like tacobell's hard taco here. hard outside soft inside.

found a chain in the garage that we bought few years ago for the crv and just put them on this morning. good thing i didn't donate them. never knew it'll come in handy again.

if this kind of winter comes back next year, either i'll trade in my tl for awd or get a set of winter tires. this one good excuse to get new car or new set of wheels.

It started snowing again here in Hillsboro about 3pm. Kids are playing in the driveway and street - there's a good 1/2 inch thick layer of ice on top of about 8-9 inches of snow.

Well I live in Albany and we currently have absolutly no snow whatsoever. I just got home from Mac though and my buddy has 16 inches of snow in his front yard. It is so crazy! I drove 99 down to Corvallis and between Mac and Monmouth I only passed one car going north on 99, it was a ghost town!

Forget the tire places, your going to wait for hours upon hours. Best bet is to try JOE'S as they carry a few different ones that vary in price. A little more spendy but i found they still had a ton in stock yesterday as i was out shopping.

don't even think to call. its first come first serve now. phone rings every second but not enough guys to even take care of people waiting in line.

this is how it looked last wednesday

i took the pilot out this morning. it wasn't that bad to drive around even without the chains.

my dad came over to help us get out, went to schwabs on walker, waited for 45 minutes in line to be turned down

So got ballsy and threw the pilot in the VTM when we got home and got out no problem with standard OEM all seasons, no chains, no sipeing. Didn't even slide, needless to say I'm pretty impressed with the Pilot's VTM-4 system, also did a little running around with it off and still no issues, and it's starting to melt now

vtm-4 is pretty impressive. honda should use vtm-4 on crv and element too rather than crappy real time awd..

rant time....

So I decided i would make a trip to the mall to get a couple last minute items before xmas. Driving there was fine, had a couple moments where the ass end would kick out on me due to the ruts in all the back roads. Got done with shopping without getting too mad due to 84237293874 people at the mall, as there wasnt really anyone at the mall.

Now on the way home we get into the car and hear that 217 is all backed up, so we start back taking back roads....bad idea. My rant isnt about how it took 2 1/2 hours to get from washington square to wilsonville....

My rant is about all the fucking people whos brain fall out of their assholes when it snows. NEVER have i seen so many people blatantly block intersections as i have seen tonight. Yes i realize that traffic sucks because I-5 north and south are closed in wilsonville, but that does not mean that you need to be trying to go through a intersection a good 10 seconds after the light has turned red for you to turn.

And mainly this rant goes out to the fucking boner in the dodge ram who blocked part of the intersection while his light was still green. Yet when his light turns red, and mine turns green he decided he would be in a better spot if he goes forward directly infront of both turning lanes.

So to you Mr. Boner in a dodge ram....fuck you.

In closing i feel for the people stuck on I-5 and those dealing with it on all side streets in the metro area.

Good job ODOT in getting the roads clear.

not....

i understand you.. there are lotta fucking idiots on the road that pisses me off once a while.

next day after snow came last week, about three more cars took a left turn even when my light turned green. i patiently waited but a car behind me started honking to them. last one that took the left turn me thinking i was the one honking at them. this dude in old green ford explorer... he was taking a left turn when his signal is solid red but fingers me for honking?? i could've just ram into to his car and cut off the middle finger if it wasn't my gf riding along with me...

Ha.. I drove from Lake O to Medford today...

Every fucking moron was out in force. Since the slush was frozen and the ruts are all filled with ice, that means you shouldnt go any faster than 25 mph. 30 tops. Instead, every small dicked SUV driver was out and about doing 60+ and honking at me. I'm in the right lane, its NOT FUCKING SAFE to go any faster. I don't care if you have chains or not, you're going to get yourself killed. I-5 wasn't plowed at all until Salem. It took us 3 hours to travel 50 miles. Somewhere between Salem and Albany, the snow disappears almost instantly. I did 72 mph the rest of the way without a problem.

Having grown up in New England I might know a thing or two about ice/snow driving, it boggles my mind that these people think its safe to drive on roads that are solid ice at normal freeway speeds.

I have never seen so many chained vehicles when i lived in St. Louis.

But then again i have never seen snow on main roads this long...

Me either. Roads were always immediately plowed. Chains were for people going out in the woods or for the plows themselves
