We had light snow (no ice) this morning in Southern Oregon and nearly everyone stayed home. Crater Lake Highway normally has 60,000 cars a day. I counted maybe a dozen go by me. Wimps. Of course, if this were to happen on 26 there would be panic, people zig-zagging and oversteering minivans. 20 car pileups. Think Christmas 2008.

P.S. I love the David Wu picture you have

Les Schwab has indoctrinated an entire generation of morons that they need those.

I think there should be a direct tax on them that goes strictly towards road repaving. They do more harm than good.

winter tires are plenty good enough here in oregon. studded snow tires should be banned. every year after the the winter season, bunch of roads are damaged and create dozens of potholes

The problem is the local news crews that send a reported out to Banks where the snow sticks to build a fucking snowman-OR-the top of Sylvan Hill to slide around in his rubber boots on the slick overpass. I heard him say,
"So its best to drive slowly..."

This is the fuckin problem..was driving skyline yesterday morning with no problems even tho there was a good amount of snow and my tires are need replacing until I hit the hill at springville..prob 5 cars stuck, 4 tow trucks blocking the road and a cameraman filming all that shit. They don't show the regular roads that are just wet like the other 300 days of the year...

^ i was almost hit at that spot few years ago when it snowed.. just turned from the road heading north and a RX8 went around the corner heading south down the hill and started fish tailing nearly clipped me and ended up in a ditch he was stuck there for atleast a week cause i took the same route to work every day and didnt see it move.. kinda funny on his part but is a bad place to pop out on to skyline..

^That entry is very dangerous. From Springville turning onto Skyline you can't see very far either way and it's at the bottom of a little valley so everyone is going the fastest they ever travel on Skyline there (even if it's still only 30..lol). I almost t-boned someone that was turning onto Skyline on Monday at the same spot..luckily he saw me in time to not fully come on to the road and I was able to squeeze by without going off the road.

^reminds me of the 2WD BMW drivers who are always spinning out.

Note to BMW drivers:
If you are driving in the snow and press down on the accelerator but the car isn't going faster, DO NOT press harder on the accelerator.

Carrie is out of town, so I'm leaving early and picking up an assortment of alcoholic beverages, some more lotion and a box of Kleenex on the way home.

Ya...it's for my head cold.
