So we have a Garmin Nuvi 5000 and in the pilot there was a very nice little pocket to put it in. In the Jetta that isn't there anymore so we want to hard wire it.
My idea is to cut the cig lighter plugin thing off of its power cable and then run the power end to a fuse with constant power (like the DRLs or something) via an add-a-fuse and then screw the ground to some metal next to the fuse box. The box of course is in cabin.
Is that possible? Is it the right idea? Does anyone know how to do it who may be wiling to help out for a beer or something?

not interesting it was horrible.. Basicly helped people with warranty issues with GM vehicles trying to help them at dealerships some vehicles out of warranty too.. basicly got to see all known issues with GM vehicles wanna the worst GM cars to get would be the cavalier there are a few others but durring my time there i would get calls left and right about that car.. quite a few about the corvette soft tops as well, and the corvette engines crapping out after 50K miles

dont get me wrong GM makes some decent vehicles too.. they look nice too just not very reliable at the time i was there.. i would hope they got alittle better at making them now since time has gone by.. i would still take a GM over a ford.. personal choice.. if honda or toyota could make cars that are more based on HP plus have there same reliability GM and ford would probably be out of business.. americans like HP =)

LOL yup that was I! The little nissan pickup threw me off. That guy with the TSX works at Lucy Activewear warehouse on industrial. I could tell you where all these modded cars are in portland well nw portland anyways.

you have the right idea.. just need to find a switch wire. i can help you with that.. i guess since i dont have to do your roof racks anymore =) i have a wire tester and a volt meter so shouldnt be too hard to find a switch wire in the fuse block under the dash.. cant be this weekend though i have carpet coming in and ill be moving alot of shit in and out of the way plus the puppies to deal with.. (not a fun weekend ahead)

Saw a black tsx with grill like Brandon's at the Bethany QFC today. Black wheels single exhaust Washington plates was checking me out.

mainly drive the POS truck to and from work cause people in the parking garage dont know how to park and cant man up to let you know they hit your vehicle.. i have yet to have an issue with the truck though =) maybe its cause they know its only worth 1500 and there cars are worth more haha

^ lol ya i have a few small dimples but ive been oh so lucky on the sides of the car.. i try to park far from people and in corner spots to protect atleast one side of the car..
what really grinds my gears is when i park far away from everyone and there is still some ass hole that feels they should park next to me. out of all the 30+ open spots in the world you still have to park next to me.. and i know they do it to just piss me off

^Hey been meaning to ask you. On that torque damper install, should you have the driver's side supported when you're jacking up the passenger side? Or does the passenger side really only need to be lifted up a few inches or so?
Hopefully will FINALLY be able to do it this weekend. Assuming I get at least an hour of no rain. It's funny when I don't have time to get it done, it's clear skies, but when I finally do have time, it's pouring outside

It's always more stable to have both sides of the car on stands when messing with anything other than changing a flat tire. You should also have it on at least one stand on the passenger side because you will be using some "leverage" and you don't want that jack coming out from under the car.
As for how high you need to lift the car, just high enough to slide the tire off, once that's off you'll have all the clearance you need to push down on the axel to get that strut to come down enough to get done what you have to get done.
Let us know how it goes!

Alright, so use a stand on both sides then? Just wondering if it'll affect how much room I'll have to push it down. And so you're saying if I push it down too much the axel might bust? I've heard of Honda axels being notoriously weak, so of course I'm a little nervous about it Maybe they're weak for other reasons or other applications though, I'm not sure..
#4422
^Volkswagon is know for crappy axels. I've never had an issue with Honda axels. The Accord had racked up almost 200k and I had beat the shit out of it too. Every VW I've owned couldn't make it to 100k without a blown CV joint.
#4423
You're not going for the world record of pushing your axel down lol.
Once you put your foot on the rotor and push down you'll feel the resistance and see the strut bolts start going down, you don't need to go much further than an inch and voila you're done. If you put the stacks under the jack points which should be just after the front wheels (under the front of the doors) you'll have plenty of room to work.

Has anyone ever thought about having the meet at Ron Tonkin Acura? We could at least get some free coffee out of the deal, and they get potential customers on the lot. I'm not sure what Seattle's Acura of Lynnwood meet is like, but it's bigger.

There are just some people with really poor judgement out there. I had a young girl force me into the center lane the other day because she wanted to get in front of me at the lane merge. It was swerve or be hit, so I let the little bitch have it. If she had really thought through the possible consequences of the attempted assult with a deadly weapon, or that I may have had my own weapon inside the car she might not have pulled such a stupid stunt. I don't call the cops on bad drivers, but I never forget.
#4432
ya i think alot of people out there dont know what merge means or know how to do it
and other people just feel like they deserve to be ahead of everyone else and once they get there they drive slow and hold up the line.. I like to always judge people in the grocery store with there carts by how they are as drivers..

^ you dont have navi though and its an 07 otherwise i would say youre on =)
we would like 08 and newer.. I wish the newer RDX's had a lip kit the nose on them are huge other then that i love them specially now that hondata is cooking up something for the newer editions.. im hoping they might do a bigger injector kit to push out more HP.. im kinda curious with that setup when running a downpipe and intake plus exhaust what the A/F ratio would be too

Yes we have NAV. We had thought that we didn't want it originally, but we had a good sales person and he talked us into it. The only option I wish we had is/are memory seats. Otherwise I could care less about weather radar or rolling the windows up and down with a key fob, and I actually don't care for the auto dim rear-view mirror either.
And it's not silver. Or what was the other color you were looking for?

The more I read the more I think that non-weapon self defense training is the best because by the time I wake up and open the safe it's too late. Of course all bets are off when it comes to zombies.
