anyone here know how to rip blu-ray movies to a hard drive in full resolution? my main reason for doing this is to be able to play my current selection of movies anywhere my PS3 is in my house. i dont feel like always connecting my laptop to the specific tv and playing the blu-ray off the laptop. i'd rather store an .avi file on my computer and access it from the PS3 and since Netflix will soon be on the PS3 too i want to get things setup for my living room as well.
im not looking to rip all the menus/extras and crap, just the main movie, and the highest quality audio track available on the disc.
i did a test last night with a program called Pavtube and it ripped the movie Speed Racer in full HD but took like 4hrs to do (i dont mind, i know its a slow process) but its not a free software and i havent been able to "locate a suitable version." The movie itself and its audio came to be 11.XX GB which is fine considering thats how big full 1080p torrents usually are anyways. Gonna be picking up several WD Caviar Black 1TB Drives hopefully this holiday season
thanks for any help

i just built out a large TB zfs server for the house. check out the PS3 hacks pages, you can due blue ray ripping from the PS3 itself. i bet those cell processors would eat up the ripping and encoding. from there, i'd take it to an mkv over avi and throw it on a network storage server.

That's SF Krew though... Go figure.. Rich indo's....
So I was lookin on 6speedonline last night and noticed MOST peopel who drives these exotics own their own business....
I wonder exactly what kind of business.. none of them went to detail as to what they do... But that is some inspiration right there...
Seems like everyone makes most of their money through investments....

I know it's a cliche, but it does take money to make money.
Owning your own business is key to being rich.
All I have to say is learn about taxes. Period. Less money you give Uncle Sam, the more you have in your pocket, the better off you'll be.

oh btw, i'd prefer not to do it over the ps3 because i'd have to install linux, re-learn how it works and crap, and then rip it, and then transfer.
i have a blu-ray drive in my laptop and will eventually have one in the desktop so i can use something like Anydvd HD to rip it. problem with anydvd is that it rips the whole disc, up to 50gb and i dont want all that, just the video and audio so that its a more managable ~10-12gb file. just looking for something simple like anydvd hd that lets me choose what i want to rip.

People who make their money through investments have something to invest. They can also swallow the loss.

the 11gb for speed racer, what bitrate are you using for the video and audio? what format is the audio in?
I've heard theres a program called ps3mediaserver that's supposed to be able to stream 1080 mkvs but I dont have a ps3 so I can't comment on it. If that were the case I'd say your best bet would be to just DL the 1080 rips to a server and stream them to your PS3.
ripping them to an avi would not b wise...u should rip them as mkv...

Looking forward, we plan on keeping it open to all makes and models again for the next show but will be opening the trophies categories to include brand specific for ones we support here at the Automall. So we will be on the look out for the Best Modified Acura, Infiniti, and Lexus at the next show.

If you guys thought that show was bad, go to wekfest. Probably going to be 300 cars with only 6 first place awards. If you whole intent is on winning something, I would stay away from all these shows. If you have fun hanging out, then keep going.
