When should we do a Winter get together to grab some lunch or something? I know December is sometimes busy for everyone with the Xmas holiday coming up.

 

My weekends are pretty much open.

 

Any of you dudes do car photography? Something I really want to start doing, wondering if anyone has pointers on how they started out.

 

Buy a nice camera + bunch of lenses, tell yourself you're going to use it. Put it on the shelf. Get married. Have a family. Start taking pictures of your kids ... then realize its so much more convenient to fire up that ol' cell phone camera. Or that was me.


There are a lot of budget friendly DSLR or mirrorless 4/3rd packages this time of the year, or visit Sam's/Costco. I would read up on camera technology / how to's / terminology / taking pictures 101, even borrow someone's camera if you can to play with the specs. Kit lens are made to please the masses and will do you good while you learn, but eventually you'll want to go to fixed prime lens if you stay with it long enough. You'll also need to know which file format you want to take pictures in and what format your editing software works best with.


Lots to learn and eventually you'll be the dude the family calls upon to take pictures. Or you'll be the weird dude carrying around a massive DSLR.

 

Well it really is just buy a camera and start shooting and learn as you go along. It's something you need to learn hands on, trial and error to find out how you like your photos and same thing with editing and whatnot. There is no right way to shoot photos or editing them, it's all on you, same thing with modifying your car. Start with an entry level dslr camera and move up if you wish, buying new lenses or new camera bodies. But if you don't plan to use it too often, I would suggest not getting one because it becomes pretty expensive once you start and keep moving on to the better stuff. Just my .02 on it, right now I'm debating on buying a new camera or buying more car parts, lol. i dunno what I'm going to do yet because of holiday sales and specials.

 

As many of you know I havent had my TL for over a year now and if I do get it back, will most likely be selling it off anyways. For now and the next few years, this will be my hoopty, went back to my accord days. Had always planned on getting another one and I guess this was the time. Got it completely stock with 96k on it back in october, minimal rust, just starting to show in one wheel well. Already dumped some $$$ into it and more to come I guess, lol. By spring it won't be looking like this anymore though. I'll still be around, I'll try to at least, lol.

 

Sorry to not clarify more...I'm not a photo newb, I know what I'm doing but have never worked with automotive photography. I do mostly landscape and wildlife right now and do it just for a hobby.

I currently have a 40D (ancient and needs to go) with a 24-105L, 70-200 2.8L, and 50 1.4 so my lens collection is up to par. Just need some opportunities and find some people with cool cars to shoot photos of! I plan on starting with photos of my own car(s) this spring. I hope to find cool shots of the Jeep in precarious situations this winter.

I am going to be of from work the holidays I am not planning on going anywhere so I am open to getting together. I think that is cool about car photography you can take photos of my car if you like as long as I get some of them. I have been busy with work that's why I have not been here. Good to see you all are still posting I still have put the head light on the honda. Maybe during my time of. TO has been put away still have to jack it up. I think we should get together soon. Keep coming out here during the winter stay in touch. I will be her quite a bit on my time of.

 

cool, well cars are just like anything else, everyone shoots them differently. Just go check out all the photographers that do take pictures of cars and you will see the differences. Its still all personal taste, you can either copy their style or find your own. As I said before, just trial and error to find what you like. There are afew photographers in town that do a lot of cars, my brother being one of them too. You can search his cpfraudtography name to find him and he'll most likely link to all the others, I dont remember what the others names are but there are at least 5-6 other guys that are really out there shooting every year.

Well I sold the Accord yesterday to one of my co-workers so it was a nice and easy sale.

This Saturday is supposed to be 47 degrees and sunny, it's gonna be nice out! With the sun, it'll feel like the the 50-60s. Should we plan something for this weekend eventhough it's kind of last minute?

Just to throw out a couple suggestions if we want to meet tomorrow for some lunch....how about meeting at Matt's Bar in Minneapolis or the House of Coats in Coates in Coates, MN. A couple of places that I've wanted to try as I hear their burgers are good.

Of course, I'm up for anything else too. I just know how this group is about making suggestions....No one ever does!! lol

Well no one haS been coming to this page in awhile. Myself included. I would like to keep this page going instead of letting it die. What is everyone up to. This snow storm sucks what also sucks is the national meet nothappening this year WTF. THIS IS OUR ONE THING WE ALL DID TOGETHER.

 

I threw my Summer tires on a little too early and had to work last Saturday with that snow that appeared over night and it was like running slicks, no traction at all and there were tons of accidents all over the highways at 7am. It was like traffic during the weekday

But I put my Winter tires back on and easily made it through the snow that we got yesterday. I'll be keeping those on until we're actually in the clear.

So what's the deal with the Azine meet in Kansas? How come they are cancelling it? We should host a meet like that up here if we can get connections with the Acura dealerships otherwise just have one big National meet somewhere with tons of parking spots.
