I do like the 3G TL's from the front to about the rear tires. The ass end is ugly as hell I think.
I just figured it out the other day, and I realize the reason I don't like them is that the back is identical to a saturn. Poor 4G.

Well based on the number of PMs I got.....it looks like I'll be going now! Thanks for the address fella's! Wish me luck today, cause I'm getting the springs installed as we speak...ekk! Actually I'm pretty impressed with the rental I have, so I might actually be getting rid of the TL......it's a 1990 something Buick Regal with 196,000 miles on it! Rides like a beauty.....I especially like the bench front seat!!
That's funny - cuz I think the front grill looks like something off a Saturn.
haha if it was an 86 Buick Regal I'd believe you
I've thought about replacing the RSB, but 2 things stopped me. The first and most obvious is I have a lot more to do first before messing around with stuff like that, and I have seen a few posts on the site about people tearing the rear end after replacing them.
Not sure if they were installed incorrectly, or if the frame isn't made to support the extra stiffness - but tearing the frame is low on my list of things to do.

Huh....now I'm quoting my own statement. I looked into the tearing the frame issue you mentioned and am honestly a little nervous now...........I think I'm now undecided about installing this mod. Thanks for the warning GLowrdr!
Hey Josh, I remember you were one of the guys that had your TLS dyno specs posted at 212whp/187 tq with your intake and UR pulleys. What type of Dyno was that?
I just did some pulls this afternoon on a Dynojet and thought it looked about right but some of the other members said I should be putting out 20 or so more to the wheels so I'm just wondering.
Here's the thread:

It has to do with the air temp that you ran them in, the tire pressure, your car's tune, and the skill of the guy running the car. I'd also say that if mine was running 212 and I had a pulley, yours with no pulley and headers would be about right. What wheels were you running? The 18"s? Are they heavier than stock wheels?
Basically, the dyno is affected by the inertia of the wheels, and if you are running bigger/heavier wheels, you'll post crappy numbers.
Also, someone else pointed out on that thread that they recalculated the way that HP is determined after the TL came out, so what was once 260 would now only be 230 or so. The dyno you ran on is reading based on the new formula, your numbers from the factory are based on the old formula.

I see...... Yeap I had the 18's...slightly bigger wheels. I'm not sure how heavy the stock TL-S wheels are. My 18's are only 22lbs each, although I haven't weighed them with the tires on. Temperature was around 64 degrees. Well, based on you guys' new replies it seems right. At least I know there's not something drastically wrong hah. Thanks.
How bout the 09 TL? Those have good performance and it actually looks pretty sweet once you paint the front grille and the back piece to body color. It actually starts to look more aggressive like the 3G TL. The stock color of the OEM grille throws off the look IMO.

An aftermarket grille.

The new TL has grown on me, but i still think the styling is a bit out there.
lol no problems haha i just got my 19s on 2 days ago. Ill be there this weekend.
Check out this hotness...

Probably cause you get more HP when you only put the fronts on

Maybe they could only afford half the kit.......
But most likely because they're not really car "smrt"
On a side note, got my Eibachs on yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All I'm gonna say is amazing!!!!!!!! Such a difference over stock and surprisingly I think it's a smoother ride!
They do look very similar, but I think that as aerodynamics becomes more and more important, we are going to see cars blending into a single basic design shape. There are quite a few things about the Acura that are different, just based on those two pictures, but they are all detail.
The roofline on the Acura is more streamlined and makes it look much nicer, more like a luxury car. The Aura looks like a Malibu with a different badge, and the Malibu is a total POS.
On a side note, I was thinking about how we gauge our society's education system on test scores, but I have a better metric. If we are educating our young peeps, (Razzi, Slappy, etc) then they will not buy shitty cars like the Malibu. So as long as the Malibu is a 'top selling car', our education system blows.

Hey josh - got an odd question for you. Since I can't recall 100%, I'll just trust your answer.
I know we got together and I got your kingston RAM from you (did we trade or something on that?)
Did we ever get squared up for your brothers RAM? I don't think we did, but I can't find any posts about it, and it looks like it was in October that I reordered it (after he didn't get it the first time). That was many many weekends ago (and me remembering anything past last weekend is a stretch)
Let me know and we can try to get that squared away now that I'm out of hibernation.

i have no idea what the actual list is now, but i think everyone that is going has been caught up on all the details. i've PMed everyone that was going the address and they've all put their agreements in.
speaking of malibus. my cousin just traded in a 08 civic lx for a 09 malibu and he says it's great. but then again, it's a basic cramped civic to a bulky american car so i dunno. i havent had a chance to ride in it.
but as far as the exterior goes, it looks like it's taking styling cues from our big gas guzzling 60s and 70s with big hard edges and enormous panels.
and it's funny you mention that people buying malibus = shitty education because it actually makes sense. more education = more salary. more salary = less people buying shitty cars like malibus. so yeah, as long as people are still buying cheap shitty cars like malibus, not enough people are going into higher education and still making 8 bucks an hour. but then again, you can't train a dolphin to walk on land and i dont think you can teach any kind of knowledge or value into today's youths. some of them are just failure from the moment of conception
lastly, 55 and slightly cloudy with 0% chance of precipitation on saturday. i have vietnamese student association event at 10:30 that will probably go on until 12, so i may not be over there until 12:30 or even 1. but i swear to god, i will be there.
PS. if everyone could just pretend my front lip is fucked up, fenders' paint are gone and my rear bumper isn't ghetto rigged, i'll be a happy camper
