Thanks - yeah I definitely see similarities to some of the other Honda & Acura silver shades. The color was actually really close to my friend's RSX that I parked next to over the weekend, but it's a different paint code.

I think it looks good. Trunk is really short/stubby otherwise. Needs something to 'lengthen' it.

Yeah I LOVE my Legend. Drove that thing 420,000 miles in 9 years since I bought it in 2003 at 95,000. It's enjoying retirement now at 514,000. Acura hosted a really nice red carpet reception at headquarters in LA when I turned 500k last November. Car still has its original engine, transmission, and clutch. I'm going to have the nose painted next month (rock chip city).

Hey 4cruizn.....Never realized you were THE TYSON! I have seen your videos when the RDX and ILX came out a while ago. It is nice to see that you are Acurazine member. Boy, with your notoriety with Acura, you must have had a good deal on this one

Weather... noooo!!! I'll let it slide since you have an awesomely clean TL.

Yeah I'ma definitely have to follow more of Tyson's thread. I'll go out on a limb here and say he'll break at least 50K miles within a year of ownership.

Tyson, just caught this thread! Glad you're using Acurazine for a vehicle for communication like using the ILX as ... well ... a vehicle! Haha. I've been prowling the 3G TL forum here and have gotten a LOT of great ideas.

Which are you bringing to NALM? I hope to be there in my TL since the KA7 is in NC with my mother.

Take care,
Gerry

Yeah I was thrilled that they cared enough to recognize a loyal Acura driver.

Here is a full write-up with a bunch of pics:
http://drivetofive.wordpress.com/201...-accomplished/

And a video they put together:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lwi1ut_PZ4s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Edit: looks like it won't let me embed here. Just click this:

There will be another YouTube video segment coming up soon. The day that I picked up the car, we spent that evening getting some rolling shots of the car in central Phoenix with a film crew. Notice the rental Buick parked in front of the ILX here had a whole system of suction-cup camera mounts on the back liftgate.

Notoriety, pshhh! Haha. But yeah it's been a fun ride. Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend some time getting to know a company that I have loved for a long time!

Haha, mayyyyybe. The ILX is going to Hollywood CA and back today. Miles are definitely racking up fast. Now if I could just quit my day job and road-trip full time...

LOL, I don't know who she is. My mom's in the picture, but she's the one exiting the passenger side of the Legend in a brown jacket with a cheesy grin on her face.

Yes, it was an honor to meet with the design teams and learn about the background on getting the ILX to this point. There are a lot of people involved!

Gerry, I'm looking forward to seeing your new TL. I'll be in the ILX. First NALM the coupe will have missed in the event's 8 years. But, I'm looking forward to documenting the trip and sharing it on the blog. The ILX is my first chance to have a car with 100% OOM .

How about some driving impressions? Were I to lease/buy an ILX, the 6MT is the one I'd buy.

Me too! Only thing I've noticed is that when the interior is piping hot (and it's 112 degrees outside) the metal knob gets hot to the touch. I guess not everyone lives in Phoenix, though.

I'm impressed with it too. Feels bigger than it is. Quality of materials is great. I especially like the feel of the steering wheel leather.

Thanks for visiting it! Yeah it's really nerdy but I have a ton of fun documenting my travels and stories about my cars. I started that blog in March 2011 and it has been crazy to see the level of traffic rise as people actually take an interest in it. You should start one!

Sure thing. It's fun. I'm coming from a 6MT (heavy, old) Legend so this car FEELS nimble. You can throw it around corners. It grips insanely well. Fit & finish on this car feels as good as my $42k Legend. Doors close solidly. Cabin feels quiet and refined. Not something you'd expect from a car that starts at $25k. Exhaust note can be loud at times. Wishing for more door pocket space. Seat bottoms feel a bit 'flat' when you're on the road for 6+ hours at a time, which even for me doesn't happen that often. Any specific questions you've got?

Acceleration. I test drove a TSX wagon earlier this year and was totally blown away by how fast it FEELS. Yeah, I4 this, 5AT that, 201 hp the other, I expected sluggishness but did not find it. Honda /Acura made a BRILLIANT drivetrain in the TSX. And remember, I drive a car now that has more that twice as much torque AT IDLE as a TSX does at peak. For me to be impressed with the TSX drivetrain says something.

So my question is, did you test drive a TSX as well and if so, will I be similarly surprised by the ILX? Does the acceleration FEEL adequate with the 6MT?

And before people ask, no, I'm not getting rid of the CTS-V. Just looking (weakly) at gas efficient commuters to add to the stable.

That is a sexy ass ILX! I wish i still had my 94 Legend. It threw a rod at 290K It could have easily gone to 500K had it not been for my father having it a year prior and never doing any maintenance for close to 100K . Congrats on the 500K mark as well!

Good looking car - my car is a baby compared to your Legend. LOL. When I first saw the TLX on Acura's website and online, I didn't think it looked good. I blame the photographers because after seeing it in person and then also looking at your shots, it's a nice looking vehicle. Good luck hitting another 500,000 on this one!

Bottom line: Yes. More than adequate. Actually, at a ride & drive event in April that Acura held here in Arizona in connection with the press launch of the 2013 RDX and ILX, they had a 2012 TSX SE 6MT for us to drive along with the 2013 ILX 6MT. I seriously was hard pressed to tell the difference from a performance perspective between the two. TSX does feel "bigger" but that's honestly the main thing that stood out. Acceleration felt neck & neck.

Nice acquisition!

The Legend is the car that introduced me to Acura. I still remember the day I went to go look for a used car and got into the cabin of 91 coupe. I was amazed at the interior. I looked at the sales guy and said what year is this thing..a 98?! He laughed and said lol, no Sir this is a 91. Blew me out of the water!

Then after a transmission problem, I got into a 94 sedan GS. Beautiful car.

Those Legends are tanks. Just take care of them and they will keep going.

Good call on letting any bugs get sorted out. My car is #82 off the production line so it was in the first 100 cars! We'll see how it holds up!

So far, so good. Haha, this car begs to be driven... This is a true chance to see if they "build em like they used to."

Seriously. I've had mine since 2003 when it had 95,000 on it. 158 oil changes, 6 timing belts & water pumps, 2 alternators, 4 windshields. 1 tow at 399,750 miles when the original fuel pump died. This thing just keeps going and going and going like the Energizer Bunny. I'd still trust it coast to coast. Pic taken a couple weeks ago. Original 1994 paint minus the front end (deer collision in 2007!).

Me too. These are actually a derivative of the accessory 19" TL wheel with diamond cut finish. They're 10 spokes but the polished finish is only on 5 of them. Very cool effect. They're a pain to clean, that's my only complaint!

The 2.4L was the clear choice for me since I wanted the manual. I've driven the other two drivetrains (1.5 hybrid, 2.0 auto) and the hybrid was too slow for me but the 2.0 was fun.

I dropped off the ILX this morning with Acura for a couple of things. The TPMS light reset, and to have a tiny scratch buffed out on the driver's door that we think must've happened during transport of the car to AZ. I'm in a loaner white 2012 TL Tech with 2,500 miles on it. It is really striking to go from a 4 cyl to a V6 and punch it on the onramp. The TL is definitely more ballsy but doesn't feel quite as nimble as my ILX in technical handling.

Your Legend had nothing but preventive maintenance done to it from what I could see from what was listed. Tank indeed.
