Sound setup 5.1? 7.1?
Why kind of setups you guys running? In my speaker search, I'm going with a 5.1 package, but thinking about getting 2 extra sats to equal a 7.1 setup. Nothing is encoded in 7.1 as of yet, but the receiver "upconverts" a 5.1 signal to 7.1. Suggestions?

Running 7.1 and loving it! Yeah, there is no 7.1 content out there but I sure love the heck out of DTS 6.1 ES material. Plus, 5.1 sounds much fuller w/ a 7.1 set-up.
Good luck...

^^^^ agreed. I went with 7.1 and like it. I can run my music and get a fuller sound from 2 more speakers than the typical 5.
If $$$$ is not the issue, I'd go the extra 2 speakers.

I've got an Onkyo receiver running 7.1 surround sound. I actually just bought two in0ceiling speakers to put in my dining room ceiling, along with a volume control. I think I will take pictures and document this process, so people can consider doing the same thing...

I have the Onkyo TX NR801 THX Select receiver, with Sonance 7.1 setup (front 3 speakers are THX Ultra Cert.).
yeah, the movies with the DVD's DTS ES setup is awesome...
and on XBox 360... I think half the fun is the sound... on GRAW Live, when someone walks behind you it's quite exciting, you can hear the footsteps go around you from surround sound side speakers to surround sound rear speakers, and sometimes you don't know if it's a teammate or an enemy
