Mitsubishi WD-62827

Manufacturer's Description
Mitsubishi combined its new high output 150 Watt 1080p DLP light engine with a premium set of features to create a series of HDTVs deserving the name “Diamond." These televisions produce bold, bright images and offer capabilities well ahead of the pack.

The all-new Mitsubishi digital light engine features DarkDetailer for deep blacks and rich dark scene detail. Each model includes Plush1080p, a high speed video processor that upconverts 1080i signals to 1080p producing four times the resolution of traditional line doublers.

Mitsubishi ClearThought technology makes digital TV simple to use. Each model is equipped with two HDTV tuners, a CableCARD slot, a 160GB digital video recorder (DVR) that can store up to 16 hours of HD or 85 hours of SD/analog programming, plus TV Guide On Screen.

In just a few minutes of googling, I read a few reviews about half the screen going out.

Not a huge fan of Mistubishi... plus, our neighbor has one and he's not a huge fan either. However, there are a lot of Mitsubishi fans out there who love their sets, so it could come down to personal preference.

As for me... the only DLP I'll ever own is a Sammy...

I agree about the Sammy. Just thought this was a pretty good deal for the size.

TigerDirect has a Toshiba 62" 1080p for $1699.

I wonder if this one sucks too.

I like my Toshiba 56" DLP. It was rated top 3 in consumer reports. The reason it is cheap most likely is because of lack of features such as POP/PIP etc... At least that was the case with mine when I got it for $1100.
