Need Help TV *another*....
I need your proffesional opinions on what to TV to get. I can spare 1600.00 on it. And it has to be from Circuit City.
I was aiming at the Samsung DLP Samsung DLP
But what do you guys think? Can I get other suggestions? I am not that good with TV specs and info. All I can say, its that I've read and heard that DLP is the best right now along with LCD's.. What do you say, 1600.00 on what, plasma, dlp, lcd, or those big rear projection HDReady tv's?
This TV will be for family room, so you know, just for watching TV, DVD's, and now and them gaming. I know how some of you stress the gaming, but this will RARELY be used for that.

I'm always bias, cause I have a Samsung DLP... I still love mine after a year and a half... and no regrets...
(this was taken with my cell. phone... so it isn't exactly the best demo.)

Also keep in mind that plasmas are really really not recommended for gaming. If you really wanted a plasma and really wanted to settle for an EDTV plasma, I'd look at the Panasonic or Samsung EDTV Plasmas. The Sammy is a little more (closer to $2k) but the Panasonic should fall around $1700-$1800, and both are far superior to that Sylvania but again, are NOT HDTV.
2 - That Philips TV is the old style projection. Stay far away from those. Matter of fact, I saw an industry conference on HDNet about 2 months ago saying that style TV will no longer be produced come 2007.
3 - I'm not a big fan of LCDs. In fact, I hate them and will never own a large one again. Just couldn't deal with the screen-door effect, drove me nuts (if you don't know what this is you may not see it, so don't worry about it
). Additionally, the only time I would buy a Panasonic TV is if I was buying a plasma.4 - Honestly, I love Samsung. I have the 50" DLP and a 42" Plasma, both Samsung. I love both of them. Some people are not big fans of DLP b/c they see rainbows (again, if you don't know what this is, then you probably don't see it, so don't worry). Personally, I do not see them, and neither has anyone who ever watched TV at my house. Apparently the bigger the screen the bigger chance of seeing them, which means if my 50" is fine, the 42" will be even better (for the record I have watched TV on a 61" DLP and still never seen them
). Also and FYI, I play all of my PS2 on this TV and have no problems. Granted I don't play that much (maybe a few hours a week), but it's always been perfect. So, even admitting that i am partial to Samsung... from the choices you gave above, even if I wasn't a Samsung fanboy... I would still recommend them hands down over the others.

Ok. yeah, i see that out of the choices from circuit city and my budget, i think the samsung dlp is best choice. I will actually go in store and look at the picture itself. I dont mind going to the 1,800.00 mark..
