So the controversial system has been installed.
The TV looks great, the "HD" looks fantastic and the non-HD looks fine.
Due to some issues concerning cabling, I went with a more traditional sound setup. The brain is the Denon 1705 receiver. For speakers I got 2 nanosats (rear left and rear right)and a uni-theater (which is the front center, front left and the front right) from Mirage (www.miragespeakers).
The sound is great, however there is a problem with the Denon which is causing the speakers to cut out after some time of use. Tweeter is replacing the receiver this week.
They are also coming back to put a IR transmitter in because the pointing of the remote is a challenge.
The install is very clean.
The Comcast DVR is neat, but it is loud.
Next weekend we are getting a leather couch and loveseat delivered which should complete the room and I will take pics.

OK all you super hip guys - Let's say one was gonna put a projection tv in a room to the tune of 84-108 inches. Any suggestions as to which brands tend to be good? I'm gonna do this in like a year and I know new stuff always comes out, I'm just looking for ideas of what I should be looking for (resolution, lumens, etc). thanks---Brian

That is exactly the set-up we have in our house though, 108" Front Projection. I hope you have a long/large room as the projector must be roughly17-18 ft away from the screen for a decent size picture.

Set-up in my house.
SOunds like you got a good set-up wsklar. Denon makes some good amps, I think you'll be happy once you get the new one. Definitely show us some pics

It's such a clean install. Curious how they did it.

So they went through the floor, over, and straight up where the TV is mounted?

Interesting. Interesting.
sweet set-up, sklar.
I was thinking of being tweetered myself. I already have the flatscreen, but need the sound system and the speakers wired through the walls.
I'm glad to hear they did a good job. Your room roxorz.
edit: just get all those :ghey: kiddie toys out of there. that room should be off limits.

wow is about the only word i can come up with after reading this thread.
I will add this.
1024x768 is a GREAT resolution for a COMPUTER.
it has nothing to do with TV, HD or otherwise.

I can’t believe your wife was so against extra surround speakers after seeing all the kid stuff scattered about the room.
Just paint the surrounds and sub Barney Purple and she wouldn’t even notice them.
