So the controversial system has been installed.

The TV looks great, the "HD" looks fantastic and the non-HD looks fine.
Due to some issues concerning cabling, I went with a more traditional sound setup. The brain is the Denon 1705 receiver. For speakers I got 2 nanosats (rear left and rear right)and a uni-theater (which is the front center, front left and the front right) from Mirage (www.miragespeakers).

The sound is great, however there is a problem with the Denon which is causing the speakers to cut out after some time of use. Tweeter is replacing the receiver this week.

They are also coming back to put a IR transmitter in because the pointing of the remote is a challenge.

The install is very clean.

The Comcast DVR is neat, but it is loud.

Next weekend we are getting a leather couch and loveseat delivered which should complete the room and I will take pics.

Thanks. Tweeter is responsive and Im sure once it's working right I will be happy.

The DVR is the Motorola DCT 6412 which is the 120 GB model.

It was too much work because of the location between the YSP and the components. Too much cables would need to be run. This is true 5.1 and it sounds great.

OK all you super hip guys - Let's say one was gonna put a projection tv in a room to the tune of 84-108 inches. Any suggestions as to which brands tend to be good? I'm gonna do this in like a year and I know new stuff always comes out, I'm just looking for ideas of what I should be looking for (resolution, lumens, etc). thanks---Brian

Sharp Notevision is pretty good, for the money. Let me check up though, its been a while since I have done research on this.

That is exactly the set-up we have in our house though, 108" Front Projection. I hope you have a long/large room as the projector must be roughly17-18 ft away from the screen for a decent size picture.

Set-up in my house.

SOunds like you got a good set-up wsklar. Denon makes some good amps, I think you'll be happy once you get the new one. Definitely show us some pics

by the way...

How did they run the wires from the receiver, into the wall, etc???

It's such a clean install. Curious how they did it.

I have unfinished basement underneath my family room. They also could have gone through the garage. Tweeter did a kick ass install job.

So they went through the floor, over, and straight up where the TV is mounted?

Exactly, there is a wall plate with the speaker, cable and component to the TV wires coming out of it into the rack.

sweet set-up, sklar.

I was thinking of being tweetered myself. I already have the flatscreen, but need the sound system and the speakers wired through the walls.

I'm glad to hear they did a good job. Your room roxorz.

edit: just get all those :ghey: kiddie toys out of there. that room should be off limits.

wow is about the only word i can come up with after reading this thread.

I will add this.

1024x768 is a GREAT resolution for a COMPUTER.
it has nothing to do with TV, HD or otherwise.

Well, dispite what the resolution is on my Panisonic, the picture looks great and the TV was about $3200 which is not too bad.

I can’t believe your wife was so against extra surround speakers after seeing all the kid stuff scattered about the room.
Just paint the surrounds and sub Barney Purple and she wouldn’t even notice them.

I like that design.

I have a room where those would work nicely.

They look and sound good and with the unitheater (http://miragespeakers.com/unitheater.shtml) you only have 3 speakers and a sub.

Living in an appartment means that I have concrete walls and ceilings so the omnipolar design of these surrounds makes the install very convenient. The front of the room is already taken care of, I just need to get the surrounds in...
