5.1 Surround Sound Advice

I just got my Sammy 61 " DLP 1080P tv set , noticed the sound on its speakers are weak. So i would like to get a surround sound system. Anyone have any suggestions. Do they sell wireless sattelite speakers if so where and how much? If you have any linksd that would be great. Or give me your opinions on wired sound systems too. thnx

Wow, that's an open ended question. First of all, are you looking for a receiver and speakers or just speakers and what is your budget?

It really depends on what your watching habits are. If you are just planning on watching broadcast TV, then a Home Theater in a Box would suit your needs just fine. There are plenty of affordable ones and at this point, most should sound pretty decent.

If you watch a lot of movies and want bigger sound, then a receiver/speaker system is probably what you want. Of course, this is a more expensive option.

As jklsdgjij has mentioned, this is not an easy question to answer. More info is needed.

As Moog suggests, why not go to 7.1?

Though we paid 1k for our yamaha 6.1 HTIAB their are better ones now(4 years later) for 400-500. And IMO, it sounds pretty damn good. Sure I'd rather a Lifestyle system or a Klipsh setup, but this is pretty good for the price.

Don't go with wireless speakers, as of now they are crap IMO.

I have to agree here. I owned a Bose Lifestyle 12 system until earlier this year. I sold it on e-bay and upgraded to a Denon receiver with Wharfedale speakers. The sound qualite is 100 times better.

You can piece together a much better sounding system for far less...and have a real sub instead of a reflecting 6" speaker.

<<<<Not a Bose fan by any means.

<<<<Klipsch fan!

Denon makes a great receiver Jlukja

I just got this system the other day and it ROCKS!!! By far the best sound I've heard from a HTIB. Plus you'll be hard pressed to find another HTIB at this price with HDMI.
