Tapping HWH or furnace vent for laundry drier?

currently in my house, my washer is located next to my furnace and HWH as that is where the plumbing is located. due to an extension on the house/basement, they had to move the laundry drier to another room closer to an external wall in order to vent the exhaust.

i want move the drier next to the washer, but there isn't an external wall i can tap for the exhaust. could i possibly tap into the vent for the HWH or the Furnace? i'm pretty sure those are just gravity vents, but i don't want to risk the drier creating blowback... other option for me would be for me to keep the current exhaust vent and then extending the hose 20 ft into the basement ceiling to where i want to relocate the drier...

i can provide pics if this is easier...

TIA...

Call the local town building inspector. Be anonymous.

I am almost positive the dryer has to have its own vent.
And from what I'm reading on the web, the maximum length for a dryer vent is 12'

No way. The drier shouldn't vent up the chimney stack, and you don't want furnace/water heater exhaust fumes being vented into the house through your drier.

can't you put the dryer next to the washer in the corner and put a vent in the wall?

There is plenty of lint that will get past your dryer filter. IMO, you are asking to burn down your house.

the left wall where the furnace and HWH sit aren't external walls... that connects to the ground level of the house, which sits on a concrete slab...

Yes.

The house I rented in Spain last summer had a ventless drier -- it collected the water from the clothes in a tank that had to be emptied after just about every load. You'd be pumping gallons of humidity into your air with that thing.

You should be able to vent through the roof. Ususally it just takes a blower in the system to maintain positive flow to the outside.
That is how mine is done and it works well.
