Room fan

Looking for possibly another fan to cool my room. Or if its good enough it can replace my 25+ year old Sanyo. The Sanyo works very well still, it just looks kinda out of place and it can't keep up on really hot days if I keep the door closed. On high its pretty damn noisy.

Thinking about getting a Vornado, can anyone comment on them? Specifically, the 715 because it has a metal base. I'd like something I can keep for at least a decade and don't mind spending that little bit extra.

Vornado's are a bit noisy, but move a lot of air.

I've used them for years under my drum kit. Even playing outside in the middle of July on a heat soaked stage it makes a difference....I guess that means its durable too!

Vornado's are okay. Solid choice. Never had one break on me.

It really depends on the functionality. Form / Function.

Is there anything else you'd recommend then?

I'm not necessarily looking for something to supplant the central A/C, just prefer something different.

Is space an issue? Does it need to fan the whole room or just a section.. and are you bringing hot redneck Vietnamese girls to your room?

trashy redneck Vietnamese girls? WHERE?!?! The sluttier looking, the better.

Yep, it needs to cool a small room. I'm also considering putting a box fan in my windowsill, but if the window is open it interferes with the alarm system....

no don't do that.. it will blow all types of dirt and shit in your room, plus it's a gateway for bugs, rapists, etc..

I was going to say.. if you're going more form than function, the dyson fan is teh tits. If small form factor is an issue. A good tower fan is a safe bet, low noise, decent airflow. Go to the asian markets and look for a samsung or haier. There are many brands, most from the same mfg but some look real sleek. If you want a fan to dry your wet clothes then the vornado or a kickass box fan will do the trick.

If the room is big enough, nothing beats a ceiling fan.

Costco.. Buy has the Vornado upright / tower fan on sale right now:

All reviews say it moves the air in a space very well. Some say it's very noisy, others say it's quiet.. idk. Looks pretty good though.
