Some more recent updates. My dogs had torn down two of my wood piles around my fire pit. I had a nice weekend a couple of weeks back so spend half the day doing some work on that area.

Two smaller piles converted into one. At first I thought I would like the more open area but after doing it I wasn't really happy not having the tight wrap around the pit area.
So I finally got around to cutting up the large tree my dad and I took down earlier this year and piled that wood up in the space. I also used some of it to make some seats around the firepit too.
All covered in tarps again. Hopefully they will leave it all alone this time.
Christmas light progression for this year. Added the upper roof this year as I only did the lower last year. Grabbed some more lights at the end of the year sales this year so I hope to do the 3 big holly trees next year as well and then any of the shrubbs if I have any left over.
Next project up is my home office. I think want to add a 32in TV I already have and my stereo and speakers on wall mounts to free up space. I say think I believe it would be the best place for them but I am not sure.
Here is the wall I am thinking of mounting everything on. It is the wall I currently face when sitting at my desk using my computer so I feel it makes the most sense.
I kind of have my computer in the corner of my desk so I could also put the TV and stereo maybe on top of these book shelves and I would just have to look left a bit to see what is on the TV instead of looking up.
Stereo and speakers. Stereo is two pieces so they can sit side by side as well.
Took some measurements for the space. Trying to figure out how high I would mount the TV. The speakers I feel would need to be mounted above the height of the closet door.
Power wire for the TV on the wall is easy as these kits work really great and I actually have an outlet down the wall behind my large filing cabinet.
Speaker wires though I am not sure how I would handle hiding those in the walls if I were to mount my speakers in the corners on that wall. Had considered using something like these mounts to put the speakers on the wall if I go that direction.
Looking for opinions/ideas/suggestions for anything I might have missed or not thought about that could be an issue. I unfortunately do not have access to any attic space above to run wires.
I have that same Sony stereo. It was seeing garage service up until recently when I put a TV in there. Next stop is the curb. I just haven't had the heart to do it. I've had it for at least 20 years.

For the speaker wire pull off the baseboard, drill hole for wire behind baseboard, fish wire to where it needs to be, install decorative box (optional), repeat for the other side, reinstall baseboards, beer. You can run the speaker wire behind the baseboard all over the room. There's likely tons of space between the baseboard and the flooring.
Not a fan of pines? I prefer the pines over the leafy trees as I have l less cleanup of leaves. The pine needles are easy to deal with in my opinion.

And, I've seen my boss' pool, with 3 pine trees over it; the skimmers have enough pine needles in them to start a wildfire.

Legitimate question. Do you guys even have fall where the trees change color and lose leaves? I know it snowed there not too long ago but it seemed like a once in a lifetime type of thing.
Around here, raking leaves fucking sucks. I'm slowly replacing my leafy trees with pine not only because I'm lazy and don't want to rake, but also because pine trees don't lose their privacy/wind break properties in the winter time. I'd be totally fine with a few pine needles on the ground that the mower would mulch/bag and call it good. I don't have a pool nor will I ever so it's not a big deal for me.

It is a great little system. I got it when I was like 10-12years old for Christmas one year. Can't being myself to get rid of it either. What condition is yours in? Depending that I might offer to pay shipping on the main unit if you would send it to me?

Had to be the most fucked up highway exchange I've ever seen.... the two directions of traffic criss-crossed before they went over 77. Confusing as fuck.
I'd have to test it... I just have an MP3 player tied into the AUX.
I'd be surprised if those cd trays were still working.
My CD trays still work but if I put anything in any slot other than 4 it doesn't work. That one doesn't bother me as much as I have dead pixels on my display. I have my TV and a Chromecast Audio hooked up to it in my office. I know I really could just get a small digital Amplifier with a few inputs that would probably take up much less space but hey I like the look of it.

yeah we have some really messed up high exchanges they are designing. Called like interchanging double diamond or something like. They have put like 5 or 6 of them in about a 30min area from my house on 77 and 85.

I can see how pine needles in the pool would not be good for the skimmer.
So temporarily tried this. It works for the time being but I quickly realized this is not a permanent solution at all. It is too cramped up there for one. The second reason being is I have a sitting chair in my office and it is on the same wall as the TV so I can't sit in my office and use the TV at all. So back to figuring out the best way to mount things on the wall.

They pretty much go from green to dead on the leafy trees
We had tons of pine trees on the edge of our property when I was a kid, enough that it could get to 4-6 inches deep pretty quickly.

I looked last night and I should have a tiny amount of space so I can get the wire into the closet on one side of the door and then route it round the door frame inside the closet and back down into the baseboard area and up the wall at the spot it would need to go up to the speaker. A ton of extra work for a clean install but doable for sure. The only other option would be maybe to put the shelf for the stereo unit above the TV itself and put the speakers way up there but I think it would give a terrible sound as the speakers would not be in optimal position to point to my desk chair.
So I moved south but still love winter. So always grab photos every year. This year I had turned my Christmas lights off already but had not had time to remove them so was able to get some winter Christmas pictures which doesn't happen often. Also was able to grab some pictures with my drone from above during the storm and the day after.

That sounds like a crazy storm. Never had a lightning and snow storm at the same time.

Thanks. Haven't flown it much but picked it up on a just before Christmas sale. It isn't super heavy at least doesn't seem it to me. Anything above 15mph winds doesn't really work well. Right after I got the shot of the lake at about 300ft I had to bring it back down as the winds were really starting to pickup with gusts above 20mph probably. Was pretty sketchy getting it back down to land. Mainly got it to start trying my hand at making videos really. Tried to make one the other day of my dogs playing in the backyard but they don't like it and just stop playing and run around barking at it.
My friend brought a drone to my cookout on Memorial Day, my dog f'ing HATED the sound, he was going nuts the whole time it was whizzing around. Even watching the video of his drone flying around my house, I had to mute it because he was getting pissed at the sound
someone was buzzing around my house a few weeks ago as I was walking in from work... I wanted to take the thing out with my air rifle, but couldn't find a good spot to take a shot and not be seen quick enough.
I have decided to start making some things for the house after my successful kegorator build. I always like to have projects to work on and now that that one is done and I really enjoyed the wood working I figured why not build some more stuff for the house.
Projects I have come up with and the likely order they will probably get done in. Also a bit of the order of complexity.
1. Silverware drawer oranginzer and full extension drawer slides
2. Four large picture frames for some prints I purchased. Larger frames in custom sizes are expensive so figured why not make my own.
3. 4 Floating shelves
4. Shoe rack for in my garage and one for in our bedroom closet
5. Two sets of double dog kennels. I have looked at plans for about 2 years now at really nice wooden dog kennels and once I complete the other projects and feel really comfortable with the rest of stuff I think I am going to take that on. They will almost be like built in cabinets in the room that the dogs stay in but kennels. Going this route and replacing the wire kennels will also give a bunch of counter space in that room.
So I had a miter saw but hated always using it on the ground so during holiday sales I picked up a portable stand for it that was 50% off. Man does that make life a lot easier standing up to use the saw.
I also picked up and extry level router and table from Sears with them continuing to blow out tools and give away free sears points all the time. Mainly got it to make the rabbit cut for my picture frames I am going to build but over time I am sure I will find more uses for it.
Picked up a table saw as well but I have not put it together yet since I have not needed to use it yet. I know I will though when I build the shoe racks and the dog kennels. It was has a portable stand like the miter saw.
Also picked up five of these really nice pallets from work when we had some new network racks delivered. Thinking of using the wood to build my floating shelves or maybe two chairs for around my fire pit.

So I really hate the under drawer slides used in kitchens. They waste so much space. So decided it was time to build a better divider and also put in some drawer slides. I have to say the drawer slides were much more difficult to get right than I expected. Seemed like it took me twice as long to install them as it did to build the drawer organizer.
Current drawer and how far it comes out
Cut all my pieces after deciding on a layout
Picked up a corner clamp so I was always making sure everything was square.
Glue and nails to make sure it hopefully never comes apart.
First use of the router to make a lap joing for the outer frame corners
All completed
Test fit. Fits like a glove.

Had to install two spacer blocks because of the cabinet depth and the depth of the slides I had.

Finally no wasted space
Can actually see the back section of the new organizer now.
Everythign back in.
Debating if I want to do the rest of the kitcen or not now.
I haven't put any clear on the organizer yet so probably will need to pull it back out of server this weekend so I can do that. Maybe it doesn't matter though.

I did custom closets in my whole house. I found it very cathartic, so I see where you're coming from
anyway... the whole time doing them I wanted the DeWalt 12" double bevel sliding compound miter saw, but I kept putting it off because the damn thing never goes on sale.
Now, I'm just about out of projects, so I have no excuse to go out and get it.
Yeah the saw has come in super handy. Luckily I aquired this one from my dad. He bought it several years back for a couple projects but when I said I was going to build my kegorator and needed to go buy one he said he had not used his in forever and passed it on to me. Great saw for sure.
I picked them up from Home Depot. They are just regular ball bearing slides. I skipped the soft close ones cause they had terrible reviews. My 22in were like $16.

I measured a million times. The worst part though was working with your arms straight out most of the time cause I am too big of a guy to fit into the cabinets. So working 23.5in back all the time was a pain. Once I had them installed the left side of the drawer hit first so had to make adjustment and slide the slide mounts a little bit to get it to close flat. NIce that the mounts include slide positions for the screws.
They are a PITA for sure and I only have 2-3 more at most I would consider doing at this point with how much of a pain. Two on are my island though and the slides screw to a false front drawer on the other side of the island and not sure I want to risk messing that up.
