So I'm Losing Weight...
Started a diet on Dec. 1st. Nothing too extravagant; basically trying to consume around 1,500 calories a day. I did this about 2 years ago with my boss. He was getting married and wanted to lose weight before the wedding. I ended up losing 30lbs in about 75 days. Not too bad IMO. Especially since I didn't increase my exercise time (or lack there of) at all.
Well since 2 years ago I made it all the way back up to 253lbs. Way heavier than I wanna be. I'm 6'3" so I don't look like a complete fat ass but I know 253lbs is a lot of weight and it'll be easier to lose now than later.
So here's my real question. I've lost 12 pounds in 12 days. 253 to 241 since 12/1/05. I realize most of that is 'water weight' but is that a healthy rate to lose weight initially for someone my height/weight?
I'm far from starving myself; definitely not walking around hungry, I'm just eating healthier foods and I try to eat 4 times a day. Should I be taking any once-a-day vitamins or anything like that?
My goal is to get down to where I was 2 years ago which is 210lbs.
Any tips, advice?

thats normal to lose that much weight in the first week or 2, but after that don't expect to see so much weight loss so fast
took me so far 2-3 months, but i have went from 162 to 138, but i am eating mainly lean protein and veggies with cover some carbs. i also do cardio for 30 minutes 2-3 times a day, and i workout lightly 3-4 times a week

Well I'm not planning on continuing to lose a pound a day but in order for me to slow down to 10 lbs a month I would need to really, really, really stall considering I only have 31 pounds left to lose.
That would mean there would be a week or two where I wouldn't lose any weight.

I would agree it all water weight. I have been eating healthy and working out for the last 2 months and lost 15lbs. I have been lifting heavier weights though so i figured that IF i didn't lift and only did cardio 4 times a week I might be up to 20lbs.
Don't get discouraged if your progress slows down....keep at it and you will get there.

Unless you plan to completely change your eating habits, it wont happen. Your doing good with reducing caloric intake, stick with that just dont diet.
That's exactly what I'm doing. I'm not eating all uber healthy food. I'm just not eating as much as I used to. I've been doing this for nearly 2 weeks now and I think I've had pasta w/chicken 4 or 5 nights. A serving of pasta is over 200 calories alone but now that I know what a serving is I realize that a serving is enough. I'm eating more fruit too, especially bananas. They are very filling and usually around 100-150 calories (depending on size).
The only thing I've really cut back on is milk. I used to drink approximately 8 servings of milk a day! That's 880 calories right there. I've only had milk once or twice in 13 days. I don't really feel like I'm on a 'diet' because I'm definitely not starving myself.
