If you intend to walk on the track, use the outer most lane. NOT LANE ONE.
If you intend to run/jog clockwise (opposite direction), use an outer lane. NOT LANE ONE.

yes, that is basic track etiquette that many people don't know about!

 

Same subject. On the open road, which side of the road (providing that there is no sidewalk) are you supposed to jog on?

u ought to see me at cross country races. I have a little bit of a reputation around the southern part of indiana. i hit fans a fair amount as well. they lean over too far across that line and im not going to slow down. also i can get away with it with other runners because i run up in the front and most other guys are like 120-150, but i throw all 190 around and they give me the line i want. otherwise there into a tree.

 

Generally, the left side so you can see the oncoming traffic. But I usually jog on the right during the day, and switch to the left when it gets dark.
