They are up over last year the weakest January since the car was introduced but down compared to the two January's prior. Besides you are only talking about 252 cars, that's why they like percentages, 13% up looks look more impressive than 252 more cars.

That's still over at least $8,000,000 in revenue and it may be showing that the MMC brought some people in or the large incentives are working. Meh, it's just one month though. Needs to show a trend over the next few months. I'm curious why they're saying "led by the ASpec" if they track that stuff or are ASpec sales greater than all other trims.

I wouldn't necessarily blame the TLX for anything bad. Let's face it. All sedan sales are down. The Civic has a small gain over last year, but everything else is down. Even the new Accord is down from last year- a car that has been very well received thus far. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the old gen Accord still selling in January 2017? If the new gen, on its first year of production, can't keep up with sales of an outgoing model, and the new model is an upgrade over the old, it starts to paint an interesting picture about where the market is going.
And hell, it may "only" be 252 more TLXs over last year, but, that's pretty good judging that we are now in the decline years (post MMC) of the generation in itself. It's rare to sell more, that late into a gen.

I have only seen one new Accord on the road. Just one! I see new generation Camry pretty much every day. I think the new styling is putting people off. Thst thing is hideous, to my eyes at least.

It's still selling in droves. Just not in as big of droves. It's not just enthusiasts buying accords. If anything, I'd say enthusiasts are only a small part of the purchasing group. However, I think it is a tell tale sign of the sedan going extinct.
Or... is it related to supply shortages?

Agree. I've seen a handful of new Accords out in the wild and I keep trying to like the exterior styling but just can't.
#335
Well, you may be right in the end, but the Camry began sales last summer and the Accord began around late October.

The writer of the report was just trying to make lemons into Lemon-Aid for the stock holders He/She really did not have anything to work with; sales sucked across the product line. Also the $8M is not ACURA'S take. We don't really know how many dollars are returned to them as revenue on a sale.
The Germans except for Porsche make about $5K per car Porsche $17,500. FORD does about $1K
Not much out there on Acura this is an old set of numbers from a Texas dealer group in 2013 There was a short FORBES piece on dealers which said ACURA dealers were down 21% in profit but did not give a number. A gross of $2500 per car does not leave much for a net profit after the selling expenses come out so the are having a pretty tuff time right now.
2013:
- Honda - $2,625
- Honda - $2,585
- Acura - $2,716
- Toyota - $2,270
- Honda - $2,071
- Honda - $2,134
- Mazda - $1,860

I don't hate its exterior. But after having read so many positive about the interior, it was a let down.... doesn't have much of a luxo ambiance. A 2018 Camry in top trim feels more sophisticated.... and it can have V6.

I’m seeing more on the roads near me. But I also live in central NJ, which has a sizeable Asian population. Accords and Camrys abound around here come Hell or high water. (Apologies for the stereotyping; it is what it is.)

The more I see the new Accord, the less I like the exterior styling. It just looks like its butt is sagging. 9G Accord FTW

The 9.5G was by far the most elegant looking Accord built in a very long time. I really don't mind the new Accord, but it's just those tail lights that ultimately kill it for me. I do like the front, though. I don't mind the side profile- it's much better than what the crosstour was. But maybe I'm not setting the bar high enough

I'm exactly opposite of you regarding the new Accord. I was iffy when it first came out but it has definitely grown on me. Still not crazy about the front and rear but I'm not put out by them either. My neighbor just got a new Accord 2.0T Touring and I have to say it is sharp. I think the Accord looks much better in silver or white than other colors. JMHO.

I'm sure I'll get used to it, eventually. It's just that the 9G Accord was love at first sight. I came close to acquiring one last summer, instead of the TLX, when I chose to end my RLX lease early. The more I drive the TLX, though, the more I like it. It's really nice for what it is.

I thought the Accord looked better in person for sure - but I would never buy it - this is coming from someone who has owned 5 different Accords going back to 1984. I might be going CUV with the RDX in a few years so it's really a moot point anyways.

I think that's why it looks better in person - you'll catch an angle and think "that looks pretty sharp!" then you take two steps and look and think "what the hell was Honda thinking???"

Honestly, I think the Malibu has a cleaner, more cohesive design than the 10G.

I see where you're coming from. But here I am comparing two vehicles in the same class. While as the Optima and TLX are not related in any way. If I was interested in that market I would go for the Accord, I feel like it is a bold move for Honda. I can't wait to see what Acura's next wave of vehicles look like (MDX/RLX/TLX)

Lola
Both the Optima and TLX are FWD-based sedans with very similar proportions. For those who aren't familiar with the Acura brand, the Acura cars really look no different from the mainstream midsize family sedans.

I think either Audi copied the Accord for their A5 SB or Honda copied Audi for their Accord.
They both look very very similar from exterior to interior.
Maybe Honda is tired of having the Koreans copy their designs? So then, they just take whatever Audi has LOL.

Nah, they copied the Stinger which in turn copied the A5 SB :p

and I dont think A7 owners care that the Accord has a sweeping roof line.

Around here you can't turn a corner without seeing a new Accord.. Not too crazy about the tail lights, but the more I see it the more I like it.. IMO it looks much better in person than in pics.
