Official TLX Sales Thread

The A4 I test drove felt firmer particularly the seats. Audi standard seats to me are too firm. What I liked was how far backmthendrivers seat can go. This is an area where I think car makers screw up sedans. I love 4 door sedans, but car makes always assume someone will be in the back seat. I rarely have anyone in the back seat and always yearn for my driver seat to go further back. Sure if in the A4 if I push the driver seat all,the way back no one can septic behind me, but then I can count on my hands how many times someone sits in my back seat each year.

TLX is
But.. it is on the downside of it's lifecycle. The numbers trending downwards is no surprise at this point in the 5G cycle... and those overall sedan sales are dying. I don't know if there is much anything Acura could do right now to bump sales, besides offer some mad incentives.

There were 5 Saturdays in July last year, only 4 this year...so there will be a natural drop in business. But their car numbers are really bad. The Pilot and MDX are killing it. I see so many MDX on the road here. I would have thought the RDX would have had a bigger increase with the all new model. Maybe a lack of inventory? I know they are holding prices close to MSRP..if they don't like this number, maybe that changes. They better get a new TLX update out there soon...and the Accord continues to do poorly.

TLX numbers are awful considering current incentives. The styling on the non Aspec's is just too blend. You add dated interior and bad infotainment and the results speak for themselves. They need to hit a home run with styling on the next Gen or it could potentially be the last.

I'm assuming all car companies use the same month end, but Audi posted a 2.1% increase. A4 was +17% selling over 3400 cars. Q5 was +58%. A4 is +1% year to date...pretty good consider all that is happening in the CUV category. TLX -12%.
#491
Those are good numbers for A4 but they are way behind C class. A4 seems to be the favourite for previous Acura owners judging by all the posts here. Please don't bring up some excuses that they are losing the numbers to A5 or other alternate. TLX is in the same boat. People pass on it for something else as well.

So you don't want to hear the truth? There's a very good chance that the A5 takes some sales from the A4, especially since you can get it in a four door grand coupe... one of our mods even just ordered an S5 grand coupe.
Acura doesn't have that same problem. If you don't buy the TLX, you're likely not buying anything unless you move to the SUVs.

Acura actually has the same problem. Many have moved on from TLX to A4 just to give you one example. Also, since the current generation was built on the smart luxury premise it cut corners on the interior and tech. Many people cross shop it with top of the line Accords, Camry and others....

We were just talking about cannibalizing sales by other models in the same line up, and you shifted the goal posts to meet your argument
If you want to talk about buyers moving from the TLX to the A4, that's another discussion altogether. That's not cannibalizing sales. That's people spending their money where they see the most value for it. Once again, Acura doesn't really have anything in their lineup that steals sales from the TLX.

The new Accord is flat out hideous. such a shame, given that the 9.5G in Sport/Touring trim is still quite a looker. Decent tech, but not exactly a feast for the eyes.
MDXs are big here in Jersey but I see far fewer of them when taking road trips down south and out to the Midwest. I had the chance to scope out the new RDX and while it’s a definite improvement over the 2.5G, there are still better offerings in the segment.

easy for me, I just don’t like SUV ride, I am a sedan person. I will ride out my 19 ASPEC TLX for at least 2 years and see what new TLX looks like and wait for a Type-S. I am pretty sure had Genesis gotten their heads out of their ass I would have been in a G70 Sport right now, but tire of waiting and not a fan of the dealer experience, but I assume the stand alone Genesis dealers will start showing up in 2-3 years.

Acura lost touch with its sedan customers as soon as they approved the 2009 TL design (along with the beak). Then it's been downhill from there.
Fast forward to the TLX: high hopes for a great sedan, but the cardinal sin here was (and remains) the selection of the 9AT for the AWD.
Unless they make a great sedan (looks AND the way it drives), my 2018 TLX is the last Honda product I will own.

Lots of rethinking in the industry. FORD is canning all its sedan sales in the US for crossover, SUV, Pickup & Mustang products.

I am actually waiting on the new Genesis G70. It’s out in Canada and gettting great reviews. Check out the many YouTube videos. Looks like a great car. It will further bury the TLX with all its options and new tech. I want to test drive one as soon as it comes out. Twin turbo 6 is available. Something that TLX needs..and soon.

Lack of any kind of a general all round consumer acceptance of a luxury image or street performance cred is hurting the TLX. The car is just there but not outstanding in any attribute. A good car but its being rated behind a number of Buicks. It just came in 19th out of 21 entry level luxury cars listed by C&D, beat a Lincoln & a Volvo. Alfa was first & Audi dominated the next bunch of places.

It is a shame because I really liked the G80 Sport, but while Hyundai may have caught up and exceeded the pack with reliability and customer satisfaction they clearly have not figured out how to market and sell in this space int he US.

I will add that all 3 Genesis (Hyundai) dealers I worked with had zero follow though. I told them what I was looking for and only one did a half hearted attempt to locate on, the others all tried to sell me what was on their lot even though I was very specific about my want. Genesis needs to have at least an order/allocation program like Acura they were not even able to put in an allocation requested, they all told me they have no control over what they get and only until cars ship can they start to negotiate with other dealers for the allocations. You can't run a low volume brand like that where finding your car is a true crap shoot. That is why I bailed and gave up, I would be waiting who knows how long to get the color combination I wanted and then no idea if I would ever get it. And wanting a AWD in GA made the likelihood that I would get my car very slim.

Acura needs to stop throwing resources at sedans. All they need is one (TLX). The RLX and ILX both received their MMC (second for ILX, in fact), and that should be it. We live in a North American world where we all love CUVs, SUVs and trucks. Damn it, an Acura-ized version of a Ridgeline would probably sell better than the ILX, RLX, and NSX combined.

Acura needs a TLX and TLX coupe.
What we need is: A full size MDX (like Qx80 or Navigator) MDX, RDX, CDX and a Pickup truck
200+ units guaranteed per year!

I hated the beak and waiting patiently for the TLX release. When it came out I was OK with the look but that ZF9 was an instant turn off after the first test-drive.
I will look at the RDX when I need a new car, or look at Toyota/Lexus if Honda/Acura can not get back on track.
