Official TLX Sales Thread

I have a feeling sales will be below 'average' this month. Just got a call from dealership asking me about the Aspec. Broke the guy's hearth saying I got an A4 and wasn't looking at Acura anymore. Based on their 'discount', had no interest in going back for negotiations.
He called me back 4 months after my Aspec test drive and at the end of the month, looks pretty bad especially with the new Accord kicking in full gear.

I think for a "near luxury" sedan like TLX, the value vs price is a major selling point. For those who have been around this Acura Enthusiast forum for a while and are pretty saturated with past issues of the car and negative reviews, there seems always room for more "discounts". You'd be like, "Your car has sucks with such a bad reputation. I am saving you by buying it if you offer a deep discount!", which is understandable. But remember there are many, many potential buyers who are not so keen in reading various reviews before going to a dealership for a test drive. To them, the price of A-Spec might still be a good value, considering features, HP, and test drive impression, relative to its competitions. That may explain why dealers are not yet willing to give in so quickly. My take is that the price will go down at some point in the months ahead, but don't expect too much either. Honda can control production if they see too gloomy a prospect. My 2c.

TXL2017 seems to have hit upon the niche market in which the TLX fits. For people who don't have access to the internet or don't know how to use it, they won't see that how obsolete the tech is or how many people dislike its looks. The current TLX seems to be the Buick/Mercury for a new older generation. After watching this video, I'll be stunned if the sales numbers per month in 2018 exceed 2,000 on average. The new accord will be taking a huge chunk out of TLX sales IMHO and of course this doesn't cover all the other car manufacturers who have also updated their vehicles (i'm not talking about a nose job but a real overhaul).
If they could make the accord this good they could really do things with the TLX if they tried. They really should stop with the current and have a new model next year.

Acura needs to add major changes to the TLX quickly by next year, no more excuses. I have a feeling sales will be closer to 2k this month. Dump ZF once and for all, remove that connection from hell.

Exterior: look is subjective. It didn't impress me yet but it could be a timing issue. I will wait before I give my opinion.

This is just my opinion of course but take all the goodness of the Accord - make it a little more stylish - definitely NOT the design genius behind the 4th gen TL or the TLX - they shouldn't even be allowed to empty the waste basket of a real design team. Then add nicer seats, a tad more sound proofing and voila you've got a fantastic start. Maybe throw in something like a cooled cupholder and truly air conditioned seats and you've got a luxury car IMHO.

I get that TLX is getting a lot of beating online, but without comparing with Accord (new or old models), I honestly think it's a nice enough car. I think I can speak for those whose TLX don't have the "inherent" issues such as vibration as some reported here and elsewhere, it's a car that is fun to drive and equipped with convenience and safety features for (far) less from other luxury/near luxury cars. I personally am having a lot more fun driving it than the cars I used to drive which were more expensive but geared for "smooth ride".
Admittedly, there's is a lot of getting use to and adjustment to maximize its potential. I have so far managed to be able to minimize the delay in acceleration and to take advantage of the power of the V6 engine. Still, it's far from being perfect. I am right now actually dealing with an "ergonomics" issue. Somehow, I feel the gas pedal has a wired angle so When i leave my foot on it fro longer drives, my foot gets sore by hanging around it. Adjusting seat and foot position to find that sweet spot...
YMMV. The good news is that there are many makes and models out there for every to choose from. I hope you all get your new Accord soon and enjoy it as much as you can!

Are the TLX monthly sales broken down into Aspec vs Non Aspec?

i posted this on some other thread, but it's worth repeating. According to Edmunds, there are 268 new 2017 TLX for sale in the radius of 3500 miles where I am. So even if you are looking to buy a 2017, it's not going to be easy to find one. For example, within 300 miles around me, there is none for sale.

What’s the discount on the 2016 tlx
$15,000?
$15,000?
#143
Yes, but I am saying with the total number of available 2017s out there, it cannot be a factor that seriously skewed the sales numbers. As a matter of fact, a week ago when I checked, that number was 274.
#144
And I showed that it was not only easy to find one but multiples of them.
#145
talking about a tree vs a forest. With the number of the 2017s spread out there, it won't be easy for most people, or not within their commutable distance. I think you get my point. I got yours.

Including a spec ?

I imagine they sell a lot more V4's than V6's. As far as my experience, the dealers are not even selling the V6 hard. V4's price is right for the standard features included, compared with sedans in its class. However, I personally think the V6 with at least tech package is the where the real value is at, for those who want more than just a "smooth ride" anyway. If you have test driven the 2018 models, both V4 and V6 feel pretty good. The stigma of bad reviews mostly of V6 definitely affects the sales but maybe not as extensively as some on here would expect.

If I take a 4 cyl, all same options, MSRP $29,000.

@2012wagon: Depending on who you ask, Camry is not "in the same class" of TLX. Before anyone scolds me for "being condescending", I'm simply stating the fact that there are people who see Acura a (near) luxury brand - same thinking that drives so many to buy BMW 320 base model..

I would never denigrate the TLX, by comparing it to a Camry. I was just agreeing and pointing out the price discrepancy I found in the real world in V6 vs 4 cyl in the mid size market.

As for BMW its a prestige brand, IIRC the most valuable auto motive brand. That said it builds cars from the FWD 1 series, not imported here, up to the new 8 series. Think you really need to be talking high end 5 series before the word "Luxury" needs to be introduced into the conversation. Every major US brand sells pickup trucks that cost more then my 440. Those truck prices sort of make calling a $60K car a luxury item an interesting proposition. Premium yeah but luxury nah, you results may vary.
We have been beating the TLX vs Accord horse to death so why not look at the TLX vs Camry for a little diversion?

I have to believe there is more cross shopping of the Camry & Acura then a lot of poster want to acknowledge. You get two interesting sides of the coin. When the TLX gets put up against the Germans or Lexus the response is we are about family use not track cars. When the TLX is put up against a Camry it suddenly moves to the elusive it handles better. Really?

If comparison is being made by brand or model name alone, that may be true. But if you judge the cars themselves against each other with all badges removed, a blind comparison, that will be less the case.

However I know plenty of 7 series owner and S class owners who hate sharing the same waiting room as cla and 2 series owners
that said every 3 series and C class owner seem to be acting like they are the new millionaire with their “luxury cars”
my 17 Taco Pro cost exactly $11,000 more than 17 year olds new CLA250 down the street. But he has a Benz and is a baller and I am a poor gardener in a Toyota

As someone pointed out somewhere, to a lot of people, a car is not just a tool taking one from point A to point B but rather a "personal express" as well. So brand name and market positioning are always part of the equation. Car manufactures know that better than anyone.

Being a born people watcher I see a lot of people are their own worse enemies when it comes to "class" as in having expensive stuff. I pull up to a drive through window in one of the "nicer" cars & the reaction of the window person is a lot different then when I pull up in the Ranger 4X4. Don't think I need to say which one of me they are more polite & accommodating too.

Some days if I take certain vehicles out, people are impressed. Other days I am a gardener. I buy things for myself
