Sorry to hear of your situation but perhaps not keeping it is the best solution for all involved. It's tough enough in the world, but to have to support a child is another thing entirely. While you shoul've talked of this possibility before becoming involved, it sounds to me like you have a strong opinion on the situation. You should definitely make this known to your partner. You are 19, a kid yourself, kwim? Good luck, I hope things work out for you.

Yeah man I'm 19. Not ready at all. But I don't want to impact HER decision. But I know this involves both of us. I would just feel really guilty.

But I don't wanna bring something in this world, not being able to take care of it.

I have 2 more years until I get my degree

hopefully from there the economy stabalizes and I land a good job as a 22 year old.....If that was the situation now, I wouldn't even be posting this.

Thanks for the input

Both of you should definitely make the decision. No matter the outcome, you both will be affected by it. I've seen a couple of friends through this and it's never easy. This should be the best time of your life - before all the responsibilities of being an adult hit (trust me, mortgage payments leave little $$$ for mods).

Don't quit school, whatever you do - you will need that education, maybe you can take extra classes and finish early. Again, I wish you the best.

If you both decide to go through with it, realize you will finish school in 4 years since you won't be able to go full time any more and raise and support the child and gf.

My friend has a kid and it completely destroyed her life. She was excited for it. Untill she realized she can't afford the kid after it was born. Now her parents are supporting HER kid.

If I was you, I would talk with her about it and try to bring up abortion. But doing so without care will break the relationship. You could also express how you really fell and say how you aren't ready and you don't want to worry about how the child will be raised.

And if you're going to feel like the guys on here who hate having kids, don't have them. Your kid is going to figure out that you regret having them, and when it comes time for you to have "the talk" with them, you'll end up saying, "I just don't want you to make the mistakes I made" GREAT good talk there, dad.

Delta you're a wild dude...lol...

But yeah, I agree with you, cut that shorty shit out...its that adolescent bullshit that got you hemmed up in the first place OP...by that I mean being cool and becoming a fool (dad unawares)...so now you have to go thru some give and take...pampers vs RL...not saying you wont be a man, but it sounds like you are trying to bail already, or at least offer door #2 to your girl...

I'm not going to spend a lot of time lecturing you on why this is a fucked up situation, but I do think that you should be the man you were supposed to be then, now. Let her know how you feel GENTLY...If she wants the kid, support it and her and do what you have to do...your life is gonna reflect many slogans and posters now my dude...so be smart...good luck "kid" with the kid...

haha darksom

but i agree..if she wants to keep the kid,man the fuck up,and do whats needed, like i said,i never wanted kids and i hate kids, but there was no way i was gonna make her give up her child. its TOUGH but shit happens, and u have to deal with it.

u may have wanted kids eventualy, but i NEVER wanted any,so just take it for what its worth, its going to be hard,i had my wife preg while i was in school and i graduated with a newborn. its never easy, but u learn to man up and deal with your probs in the end. i dont resent my son,and like i said,i love him to death. but i still stand by my statement...having kids suckkksss. (obviously this isnt the case for most)

I can't believe anyone hasn't already brought adoption. First off, I believe it's the woman's right to choose what she does with her body, including abortion if she feels fit. On the other hand, if either of you two are unprepared for parenthood (neither of you sound ready), then perhaps adoption is a viable solution for you. I am the uncle to a great little girl who was adopted by my sister. The adoption was put into place before she was born. The birth mother, deciding she couldn't properly care for baby, allowed my sister to finalize the adoption two days after she was born.

If this is a solution for you, then be prepared to support your girlfriend for the duration of her pregnancy and assist her after the adoption is completed.

Certainly an option, but also be prepared for her to decide to keep the kid at the last minute. This is why this is also YOUR decision and YOU have to be there to give your opinion.

Your first sentence proves that your last is a lie, or at least the first part of it.

It is NOT his decision at all. His part of the "decision making" process is over as far as birth is concerned. That "went" when he "came". That may not be what he wants to hear, but it is the absolute truth. To get him to feel otherwise is to set him up for disappointment. He can tell her how he feels, but she will ultimately decide for them both at this point. Such is life...

What he should be doing is discussing with her the pros and cons as far as them both in keeping or getting rid of this child. But he won't be able to exert any will here, so he won't be making any decisions. He can just factor into hers if she listens to him. I'm not being anti-male rights when I say this, I'm just being real...

So in laymen's terms...you fucked, you fucked up, now you may get fucked...I hope not, but if you don't start kissing ass and spinning a web in her ear real soon...you just might...the reason I hope you don't get screwed is because if you do, then you have two kids raising a kid, and that means the baby might wind up getting screwed...I hate shit like that...so man up, whatever the decision...let this be a lesson to other young-gunners reading this: THE DECISION IS YOURS ONLY UP UNTIL YOU STICK YOUR DICK IN!!!...
