What are your favorite old school games and songs?

I just stumbled across this on youtube.... by far my favorite 16-bit racing game, and a great sound track also. I played this game so much its not even funny.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYqDXAbgpH0

here's pretty much all the original songs:

I always used the white car just because it kicked ass.

Who knows this one? Hell I liked it so much its my ringtone

This guy's warcraft II is a beauty. I remember when you would right-click an enemy to attack, your units would pass by them to the spot you clicked and then turn back to attack

Wait. Are we discussing old school games, or songs?

Cuz if it's games, then mine is Kung Fu.

To this day, still probably the most entertained I've ever been by a game.

I miss the songs of the 90s. So much great music on the Super Nintendo and N64 games. I think the songs of those games were just as important as the story and gameplay, and even the graphics.

Probably my favorite RPG of all time and one of my favorite games ever. The acoustic version sent shivers down my spine.

another one of my favorites. I played Super Bomberman 2 til my hands hurt. Even got in a few fights with my brother when I was little, heh. I also like the songs in Bomberman 64. Also a good song from Donkey Kong 2

Yeah Chrono Trigger was great I figured out how to play the boss battle song on guitar. Although it's not an old school game, I loved the hell out of the Chrono Cross soundtrack, too.

Anyways, I love about 90% of the music from the old Mega Man and Mega Man X games. Secret of Mana, Super Mario RPG, Actraiser, TMNT: Turtles in Time, Double Dragon (1 & 2), and so on. I could go on...

The SNES Donkey Kong Country games had some pretty cool music. I like the composition in this one:

The ice levels in platformers tend to have real awesome music, IMO

That's a good one. Damn, I hardly remember the levels I played on DKC but the music is very familiar. Can't believe they were able to make that kind of music on a 16-bit cartridge 15-20 years ago. I was too used to hearing bleeps and beeps but even some oldschool NES games sounded good

Without a doubt, Wip3out and WipeoutXL. I was actually playing the Wip3out soundtrack in the car the other day. Excellent stuff. Sasha's xpander is basically my favorite song ever, so...

The old Thief series from the long-defunct Looking Glass Studios. The Metal Age, especially.

This music is often filled with the "baww" sound of me dieing in the background.

I always die on the last level of this game. Have yet to beat it.

figured you Excitebike fans would like this one. the intro music is remixed too, pretty sweet:

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/318328

Gran Turismo music has always been good.... TMNT4 was one of my favorite arcade games too. I always died in Contra because my brother thought it was funny to go too far ahead and make me fall off the screen

^nice one, I'm actually not much of a fighting game fan but I did play some SF2 back in the day and I remember most of the music and whose theme it is too, heh.

I've also found that Newgrounds audio portal section has a bunch of good remixes of video game tracks and some other nice music too. oh and even if you don't care for Chrono Trigger, try listening to the Crono's theme remix its amazingly good (click them)

F-Zero - Mute City

CT - Crono's Theme

CT - Robo's Theme (80s remix)

CT - Lavos Theme (electronic mix)

call me crazy but I think I'm about to look for my SNES and plug it back in again....
