To play PS5 games that are in USB extended storage, go to your game library, and copy the game to console storage from the options menu. Copying games is faster than redownloading them. It's also faster than reinstalling them from the disc if the game on USB extended storage has add-ons or has been updated.
You can now enjoy Share Play with players on PS4. Use Share Play to invite your friends on PS4 to watch you play a game, or even hand over control to them.
We've added zoom to our accessibility features. Use zoom to magnify what's on your screen. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display > Zoom to enable this feature.
We've added Disable Game Chat Audio in the control center under Sound. If you turn on this setting, your voice won't be heard, and you won't hear other players' voices in game chats. This setting doesn't apply to party voice chat audio.

We've separated videos and broadcasts under the Shared tab for easier browsing.
You can now manage all the games you follow by going to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Manage Followed Games. This allows you to unfollow games without having to navigate to the individual news posts or game hubs.
For displays that support the HDMI device link feature, you can now enable or disable one-touch play and power off link individually. Go to Settings > System > HDMI to change these settings.
When one-touch play is enabled, turning on your PS5 console will also turn on your connected display.
When power off link is enabled, turning off your connected display will put your PS5 console in rest mode.
You can now set the country or region in the parental control settings for PS5 console users and guests who haven't joined or signed in to PlayStation Network.
The country or region you select will determine what rating system is applied to PS5 games and apps. To change a user's country or region, go to Settings > Family and Parental Controls, select the user, and then select PS5 under Age level for games and apps.
You can also set the country or region in advance for new users and guests on your PS5 console. To do so, go to Settings > Family and Parental Controls > PS5 Console Restrictions > Parental Controls for New Users > PS5.
You can now hide games in Game Library. If you hide a game, it will no longer be displayed under the Your Collection tab.
To hide a game, go to the Your Collection tab, open the game's options menu, and then select Hide.
To view your hidden games, go to the Your Collection tab, open the Sort and Filter menu, and then select Hidden Items.
To unhide a game, turn on the Hidden Items filter, open the options menu for the game you want to unhide, and then select Unhide.
Games you hide on your PS4 console will also be hidden on your PS5 console.

When you start or resume a PS5 game, your console will check for newer saved data in cloud storage. If you have more recent saved data in cloud storage, you can choose to sync the data.
It's now easier to manage your saved data directly from the home screen. When you open the options menu for a game, you'll now see Upload/Download Saved Data and Check Sync Status of Saved Data.
We now support more emojis.
In Trophies, we've updated the following:
You can now access screenshots and videos taken the moment you earn a trophy. Select a trophy you've earned to see related media.

Once you've selected a sort order for your trophies, your trophies will remain sorted in that order for all games.
You can now view your trophy stats by pressing the square button on the Trophies screen.
Now when you sort your trophies by rarity or earned date, the trophy cards will show the rarity or earned date information.
If you install this update, Enable Chat Transcription in accessibility settings will be turned off. If you want to use the chat transcription feature, turn this setting back on.
In the multitasking feature for cards, we've updated the following:
Now when you focus on the multitasking icon on a card, you'll see hints about the multitasking modes that are available: picture-in-picture, pin to side, or both.
We've added a button guide to show you how to interact with a card that's currently in multitasking mode.
You can now see your wireless controller's battery percentage in the control center.
In the game or subscription hub, you'll now see promotional offers that are currently available, including those for PlayStation Plus, PlayStation Now, and EA Play subscribers. To view the options that aren't displayed in the hub, press the ... (more options) button.
When playing a game you've hidden by selecting Hide your games from other players in your privacy settings, other players will no longer see information about the game you're currently playing next to your online status.
Some PC monitors that can display 1080p/120 Hz now support 120 Hz display for games. If you're having trouble viewing your game at 120 Hz, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output, and then turn off Enable 120 Hz Output.
We've added the option to switch the video output to non-HDR when using a game or app that doesn't support HDR. To change this setting, go to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > HDR.
We've made updates to the system software to improve stability and performance.
Tomorrow, we’re pleased to launch our second major PS5 system software update to all PS5 owners globally. The update includes a variety of enhancements to the PS5 console experience as well as 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers. It also features M.2 SSD storage expansion, which enables PS5 players to store and play PS5 games, PS4 games, and media apps directly from the expanded high-speed storage.
We’re also expanding mobile features with support for PS Remote Play over mobile networks starting tomorrow, and the ability to view Share Screen broadcasts on PS App beginning next Thursday, Sept. 23.
Sony knocked it out of the park with the PS5 design the more I look at it. All the custom cover colors/graphics....I'm gonna wait for the revised/upgraded PS5 (PS5 Pro?) to get one. Spent a bunch on a new PC gaming rig so that'll hold me over for quite a while
Prior to this past Christmas, the wife and I tried endlessly to locate a PS5 largely to no avail. (As our 11 y/o son had been nursing an XBOX One for quite some time, we wanted to get him a new gaming system.) As we were having no luck securing the PS5, we happened upon a local Walmart which had two PS4s for sale and jumped on it for $299 (1TB). Wifey regularly still submitted her name on the Sony waitlist for the PS5 when Sony notified her that one was secured for her provided she submits her CC info (which she promptly did).
A day later, she was provided with UPS tracking and we regularly kept follow up on it. After two weeks passed, we reached out to Sony who filed a claim and promptly ordered the delivery of a replacement unit. Within a week, we finally received the replacement unit......and a day later, we received the 'missing' unit as well.
you just came up on a small fortune! Sell them PS4s too!
So, I gave the PS4 to my 11 y/o as a Christmas gift. (It was already wrapped up and under the tree as we figured the PS5 wasnt coming in time.)
As we're renovating our rec room to be more of a game and entertainment room, I've not unboxed the replacement PS5 yet. (Currently have that, a new large screen SONY Bravia and a high output surround sound system all boxed up ready for installation once the room is completed.)
The original PS5 is put away for now. When speaking with SONY they indicated that the original PS5 (which was assumed missing) may or may not be locked out due to its missing status; when we have time, we'll see if this is the case. However, it sounds like this means the unit probably cant be used for online gaming (if locked out) but can be used 'locally'. In any event, they didnt ask for the unit to be returned. (Likely because they already wrote it off.)
But yeah, definitely came upon some gold.....particularly if both are full functioning units.
Got an offer to buy a PS5 directly through Sony later today. I've barely had time to game and really only play Rock Band 4. Any reason I should pull the trigger should I find time?
I pulled the trigger and ordered Demon's Souls. I want to get GT7 and Miles Morales also but will wait a bit. It's cool that Plus customers get free 1-2 day shipping.
I already have a 4k player and yeah I love it. Both Blade Runner movies look so great.
Today, I am especially pleased to reveal the stunning new design of our next generation VR headset, PlayStation VR2, together with an updated and final design image of our PlayStation VR2 Sense controller.
You’ll notice the PS VR2 headset has a similar shape as the PS VR2 Sense controller, taking on a matching “orb” look. The circular orb shape represents the 360-degree view that players feel when they enter the virtual reality world, so this shape captures it nicely.
The design of the PS VR2 headset was also inspired by the look of the PS5 family of products. When our design team created the PS5 console, they also had the next generation VR headset in mind so you’ll notice some similarities in the look and feel. The PS5 console has flat edges as it is meant to be displayed on a flat surface, while there was more emphasis on adding roundness to the design of PS VR2 headset since it is meant to have constant human contact, similar to the rounded edges of the DualSense controller and Pulse 3D headset.
Our goal is to create a headset that will not only become an attractive part of your living room decor, but will also keep you immersed in your game world, to the point where you almost forget you are using a headset or controller. That’s why we paid very close attention to the ergonomics of the headset and conducted extensive testing to ensure a comfortable feel for a variety of head sizes. We already had a lot of positive feedback on the ergonomics of the first PS VR headset by carefully balancing the headset weight and having a simple headband that can be adjustable, so we kept the same concept for the PS VR2 headset. Other features such as the headset’s adjustable scope that places the scope area closer or further away from the face and placement of the stereo headphone jack also remain the same, so players will be familiar with it.
For the PS VR2 headset, we took comfort a few steps further by adding new features such as a lens adjustment dial, so users have an additional option to match the lens distance between their eyes to optimize their view. We also created a slimmer design with a slight weight reduction – even with the new added features such as the new built-in motor for the headset feedback. It was quite a challenge to create a slimmer design with new features added to improve upon our first headset, but our design and engineering teams proved this could be possible when we saw the final design!
Additionally, we’ve integrated a new vent design for the PS VR2 headset that we think users will enjoy. Yujin Morisawa, Senior Art Director at SIE led the headset design of PS VR2 and explains why this is his absolute favorite part of the design:
“When I started to work on the design for the PlayStation VR2 headset, one of the areas I wanted to focus on first was the idea of creating a vent in the headset to let air out, similar to the vents on the PS5 console that allows airflow. Our engineers came up with this idea as a good way to allow ventilation and avoid having the lens fog up while players are immersed in their VR games. I worked on many design concepts to achieve this, and in the final design, you can see there is a little space in between the top and front surface of the scope that contains the integrated ventilation. I am really proud of how this turned out and the positive feedback I have gotten so far. I hope our PlayStation fans will also agree, and I can’t wait for them to try it out.”
– Yujin Morisawa, Senior Art Director, SIE
Another treat we wanted to share – similar to the thousands of tiny PlayStation symbols we added to the design of the PS5 console and DualSense controller, we also included tiny PlayStation symbols to the front and back bands of the PS VR2 headset to add a comfortable feel for players to enjoy.
When PS VR2 launches, it’ll take a giant leap forward in the way we play games in virtual reality. There are plenty of exciting new features to look forward to in the PS VR2 system, including stunning visual fidelity in 4K HDR and state-of-art graphical rendering, enhanced tracking such as inside-out camera tracking, new PlayStation VR2 Sense Technology features such as headset feedback, and the new, intuitive PS VR2 Sense controller that creates an incredibly deep feeling of immersion. Additionally, the PS VR2 system comes in a simple, single cord set up so you can connect to your games immediately. PS VR2 development kits are already in the hands of game creators, and we are excited for what they’ll come up with to truly make virtual reality a remarkable experience for gamers. We look forward to sharing more details with you about PS VR2. Stay tuned!
I pulled the trigger and ordered Demon's Souls. I want to get GT7 and Miles Morales also but will wait a bit. It's cool that Plus customers get free 1-2 day shipping.
I already have a 4k player and yeah I love it. Both Blade Runner movies look so great.
Finally came in yesterday after I missed the UPS guy Monday for signature. It's so damn HUGE but so badass. I played some of Astro's Playroom to get the hang of the controls which was fun.
Yeah, not really...not for...wow, over a decade -- since I stopped playing PC games really. Just never made the conversion from keyboard-mouse combos for FPS to the game controller... :/
