i think the biggest winner here is Nintendo...if they price the Wii at $200...i think they will outsell PS3 and 360 for next holiday season

I will wait for the price of the PS3 to come down. The reason I am sticking with Sony are the Sony titles and exclusive PS3 titles coming out.

If 360 had the new MGS and GT, then I would get it, but it doesn't, so oh well.

I have a better idea for Sony, pull PS2/PS3 off from the North American market now and focus more on their Japanese products. These 360 fanbois don't really care anyway...

I can't wait to see what will FFXIII, SRW and Winning 11 look like on PS3.

Have you seen the screen shots of GTHD? Is that more than 12 cars on the track at the same time??? Awsome, that would be a definite reason for me to buy PS3 at launch.

Judging from the current status of E3... the graphics improvement of PS3 and XBOX360 is marginal. XBOX360 has a much easier workflow for programmers, PS3 is a little more complicated especially because programmers have to adapt to he CELL Processor. Don't get me wrong PS3 looks great but it won't necessarily BLOW xbox out of the water to the extent your putting it in. In addition to that, SONY's not being too innovative IMO, they basically redesigned the dual shock 2 controller and inserted gyroscopes in it to emulate a Wii experience except... only with tilting (which would work great for games like flight sims, but I am quite interested in seeing how it would work for others)

The price is also astronomical, but that wouldn't be a problem for Fanboys.

wasnt the main reason why they went back to a dual shock 2ish controller was cause they got too many complaints for the boomerang controller they had before?

I also have read rumor or should I saw rants against PS3, on how they officially said that it would have about 5-7 usb ports or more, and now they only have like 3. Is true? I have never been into Playstations due to me not liking the controllers and load times.

usb ports can be easily and cheaply split. In that pic of the original vs new, I wonder why they decided not to bundle 3 network cards

One other bit of high-definition news from E3 this week... Sony has officially announced that its Blu-ray Disc capable PlayStation 3 will be available here in the States in two versions on 11/17. There will be a model priced at just $499 containing a 20GB internal harddrive, and also a $599 unit containing a 60GB harddrive. I have to say, those are pretty impressive price points, given that speculation just a few months ago had the PS3 selling for $700 or more. Still, only the 60GB model will have an HDMI output, so those of you interested in the PS3 for home theater use in addition to gaming will need to shell out a little more for the higher tier model. You can read more on these two units via Sony's official press release.

Way too much money...blu ray has failed.

I love how people stick to their 'brands' like true patriots. Who cares who gets what system and how much it costs. Its a brand new system, it's gonna sell all 2 million the week they start the pre-order, and everyone here knows it. Its going to be hard to get for the first few months as usual, if you didnt pre-order, and that's that. The first wave of games, as with any new system, will be ho-hum, unless they are keeping things so deep under wraps, that they have more ready than they are saying (unlikely).

Now that I see the price for real, it is swaying me from buying the first wave of systems, I'm not that much of a fanboy that I simply MUST have it when it hits. I can wait a good 6 months to a year and not care, like I've said in previous posts I've got plenty to still play on PS2. If it was $100 less each way, I would definitely order as many as I could to sell on Ebay, but $600 a pop is a little much.

Didn't the 3DO, Neo Geo, and Sega Saturn have really expensive prices tags on them like $500 and above and look what happened to them? I think Sony should retail the PS3 at $350 to $450 and they'll be fine.

Didnt realize it is a popular title, and for it to be a PS3 launch title, that says alot. Anybody even play the new ones?

have you guys forgot that a standalone blu-ray player will be as much as a ps3....that alone makes the thing worth it.

and it is true that the graphics may not be very different from the 360, but the games will be. think about it. compare a blu-ray to a double layer dvd. its crazy how much more can fit on the blu-ray. that means better games.

and come on guys, $600 isn't that much when you think about it. how many of you guys spend that on petty stuff for your cars...

also, have you all seen the new MGS trailer? the end is crazyyyy but overall it didn't look too impressive. i wanna see some gameplay.

As far as Sony having the best programmers...for what? games? thats not Sony and why do you think the PS3 keeps getting delayed? Its fucking hard as shit to develop for, and they havent been giving their developrs the proper tools to work with.

I used to be a huge sony fanboy...now they just suck.

$600 bucks for a video game machine is recockulous. if the 360 had cost that much I would never have bought one...hell, I wasnt overjoyed at $400...but yeah I bought it.

And most people wont buy the $600 version...they'll get the $500 one (which is still too much) and then they'll bitch that blu ray doesnt look that much better because they'll have it hooked up through analog connections, etc etc etc.

This whole HD-DVD and Blu Ray is bullshit. The more I read about it the more annoyed I get...HD-DVD...its out....but they having a lot of problems with the Toshiba player (and I HATE toshiba.) Its all shit...everything for everyone has been rushed to market with no forethought.

That WHY I can say it. Blu-Ray was supposed to be out already...and keeps getting delayed because of problems, issues, etc. They've let HD-DVD run wild out of the gate, and I don't that format disappearing from store shelves either.

I see all to often in wireless phones too. Industry rushes things to be first to market, and it's shit when it hits. The consumer ends up feeling the pain

if you don't like the thing, don't buy it, but why bitch about it? if you are happy with your xbox, fine. I however think the ps3 is gonna be better and will buy it

has nothing to do with the PS3 as a gaming system. Has to do with the whole format crap.

But as a game system...its too fucking expensive. As to which will be better..thats all subjective.

for me the only reason why im getting the PS3 is because my 1st, well technically my 2nd console (1st was an atari) was the PS2 and i liked it, so i figure might as well stay with playstation because i liked the PS2 alot, xbox never really played it and the games that i did have some interest in it, were also on the PS2.. now if i get a PS3 and think its junk then ill likey try out whatever machine comes out from microsoft next. now nintendo i dunno after seeing nintendo focus mainly on kiddy stuff, ill probably not go that route, and the non-kiddy games they do have for it are also on xbox and ps.. and the games that are ddr-type (where you use your entire body to play) while cool and gives me a good reason to get the Wii, but i doubt ill be playing those games all the time *shrug*

why even care? maybe it won't make a good universal format to take over DVD, but it sure as hell will be nice for a video game console no? and yeah, its expensive, but to some people it's worth it. you can make the same argument with cars...brand preferences that to some may seem like small differences but to others it might be worth extra money.

I just think 600 bucks is WAY to much for these consoles to be costing. You could buy a computer for that much and still do more than you can on the PS3. You wont be able to play the games, but you can do everything else.

IMO 600 bucks is too much and will cause me to wait till price drops.

Shit, with the price of the PS3, i will actualy have to wait for a new system for the first time ever. Having a baby, i cant justify spending 600 on a system. 400 for the xbox was killing me.

For video games its too expensive. For a cheap way to get Blu Ray in to the homes, its expensive.

My cares and interests are really in the system as a game machine. More about the impending release of Blu-Ray...which I now certainly believe will fail...much like HD-DVD has taken off in the last month.

Inflation has caused an increase in a lot of things, but $600 is still too damn much.

The only reason I'm really interested in the PS3 is because I enjoyed the PS2 much more than I did the original XBOX. I'm imagining the PS3 is a PS2 on steroids. I've played the XBOX360 and I wasn't too impressed, mainly because of the titles available. I think developers in the past have succeeded with the constraints Sony has placed upon them, and will continue to do so with the PS3. This is what is driving my decision to purchase the PS3, although that damn $600 price tag is VERY steep.
