Hits stores next week...anyone getting this game? I hear it's brutally difficult. But, early impressions/reviews has this game as a must-buy...

But, someone I asked likened the difficulty of the Souls games to something like the first (new generation) Ninja Gaiden...which was allegedly very difficult. Well, I finished that game several times and so, if these Soul-type games are similar in the difficulty scale, I can hack it.
But, otherwise, what I'm hearing about how hard it is for this game is becoming a concern...LOL.

As long as it's not like impossible platforming following a fuckton of cheap ass characters and then the boss with no energies....THENNNN you can save; then I'm cool. Bayonetta was stupidly hard but I beat it. DMC a little easier.

Looks good, might have to check it out once I get a PS4.
I agree, that is annoying. However, I didn't find Bayonetta that hard. Are you referring to the hardest difficulty? I didn't play on that one, but I thought normal was reasonable.

Well I didn't think Bay was as hard as described in my example on Normal. It was a challenging game but not stupid impossible as described. I did try Hard on Level 1 after beating it. Yeah they had Gracious and Glorious in the beginning while on Normal you didn't encounter them until several levels in. That's stupidly hard.

Okay...so, picked it up on Saturday...was able to get in some game time. But, not much. I only set up my character and had my first encounter...
The enemies are definitely not easy and your lifeline is precious. I died fighting the first enemy I ran into but I think that was by design as after I died, I gained two weapons...whew! Fighting with my fists against a giant were-dog/wolf was not fun.

Still plugging away at this game...and just exploring Central Yharnam. Lots to do and fight.
I have done some "gold" mining by just running the early stages of the city over and over to get a couple thousand each time to help level up my character. Almost finished exploring the sewers and noted a giant beast thing at the end of a lengthy tunnel...looks big enough to eat me for supper and so, I'll level a up bit before I tackle that thing.
I suppose while it is both good (and bad) is that enemies respawn once you go to the Hunter's Dream...so, even the hard ones comes back. That can be a problem...
Game is good...keeps me on my toes and per most reviews, it does keep drawing me back for more even when I die.

Can't play this weekend though...taking the wife and kid out of town for a couple of days.

Tried it this weekend.. Not my type of game. Too frustrating! Kept dying over and over and over again. Got tired of doing the same things over because of the distance between save points.
Maybe that gets better the further you go, but I don't have the patience for that.
It's probably one of those games you have to tough through the begining to get to the good stuff, but I honestly don't have the time/patience for that kind of game. I'm more of a give me a gun and tell me what to go kill, kind of guy.

Well, I can say I beat the boss finally...but, man, that was alot of attempts and experimenting...his 3rd form is just nutbar to take down.
Let's not repeat a fight with that monster again.

This might be one of my first PS4 games. It's been $20 for the last week on Gamefly. I might not have to hit MGS4 or Batman and I'd like the prices to come down to justify the purchase. With the Fall shows starting back up, time is limited.

If you are patient and learn the nuances and techniques required, you'll love the game...it's dark, brooding, very creepy and generally just fun. Beautiful-looking too.
The CLOSEST difficulty I can sorta compare this game to would be Ninja Gaiden when it first came out on the Xbox...keep in mind, not the mechanics, just the magnitude of difficulty. But, even then, I think Bloodborne is harder.

You'll know what I mean once you play it. Just remember: you must be patient and willing to learn the game...I've known people who flat out gave up. Unforgiving would be the word to best describe the game...but, if you try and give it the effort, the reward is awesome.

Good...Because, honestly, Bloodborne is a top-notch game...it's IMO, the first killer app on the PS4 to arrive on the console (MGS was released afterwards).

I've had this for awhile and I'm still not done. So, FWIW, it's not as accessible of a game...

Made my way to the top of some weird nursery...beat some nutbar boss wielding 1 too many blades...
And now, the apparent steward of my "other" world wants to meet...and my place of solace is on fire...
Ruh oh.

So, fast forward to today...November 28...finally finished the game after picking it up back in April...1st run through it.
The final fights were tough but I was able to take them down each boss after 2 tries. So, alot less frustrating than the 2nd boss who still gives me the heebie-jeebies (he was freaking hard for me). Definitely one of the harder games I've played to-date but very enjoyable...one of those games where boss fights actually can be heart-racing and stressful.
The game restarts as a NG+...so far, in a quick run through of the first stage, the enemies are a bit tougher but give a pile more $$. Retain all your hard-earned weaponry and skills at least...whew.
I think I'll leave it and maybe come back down the road if I ever have time...now, finally...MGS!...Well, not tonight. Too late now.

Was going to play Thursday but 9GB install that took forever. Started it on Friday. Jeebus this is hard. Plus the tutorial is lol non-existent. A few hours in and I was on the ropes of quitting. But then I decided to grind and upgrade my armor and figured out I can upgrade my weapon with the Bloodstones or whatever they're called. Now I am upgrading my vitalitly/endurance/strength as I reached the boss. I took out half his life first time around but that was before I upgraded my character so I'm not too scurred. I'm getting used to the fighting but sometimes I still get gangbang comboed nasty. Luckily I'm like up to level 18 I think. I'm learning how to parry the huge ogres and then using the visceral attack for one shot kill. But yeah this game is sooooo unforgiving. First you get killed fast, then when you get good you realize you run out of bullets and you have to repair your weapon. And forget save points. You just gotta be good enough to walk around without dying. Anyways I'm just building up my guy before the first boss fight and now filling up my stash in the hub. Wish we had an ingame map but I've learned Central Yharnam pretty well.
