is there something i can change/buy so that my desktop computer doesent have to be on and loggin in with a admin for other computers/devices on my home network to accsess the web
Ummm... a router? You can buy one practically anywhere that sells electronics... CompUSA, Best Buy, Walmart, etc.
You can buy a Wireless Router with 4 port switch (most common configuration sold) for $30 - $100.
You need a high speed connection of some kind, like DSL or Cable for this to work. If not, there ARE devices that you can use, but harder to find.

i have a wireless router but in order for say my wifes laptop to get online or my wii the desktop has to be on and logged in as admin (win xp pro) my set up is like this i have 1 desktop that is connected to the modem/wireless router via ethernet port and wifes laptop connects via built in wirless adapter and so does the wii. in this regard it seems the other devices actually connect to the desktop and use the descktop connection to get to the router or the desktop has to be on the give the pasword to my isp
You are using internet connection sharing, or ICS. Your desktop is sharing the internet connection to the other computers on your network. UGH.
Disable ICS and just run a normal connection through the gateway (being your router). Simple to set up. Just make sure your router is set up for a DHCP connection, with your username and password for your ISP in the setup, then it should push that signal to your other computers through wireless. No need for any computer to be on for others to access the web.

I have a few questions:
1) What kind of internet connection are you using? (DSL, Cable, Wireless, FiOS, Dial-up, etc)
2) Who is the provider
3) Does your provider require you to use an application on your computer to login with a username password to get access?
4) What brand / model is your modem?
