360, PS3, PC: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3
PS3... you?
I don't think I'm getting BF3, I've bought way too many games in the past few weeks.. I got Driver SF, Gears of War 3, Mortal Kombat, and Forza 4! when on Earth I'm supposed to have any time to play any of those at any persistent level, I don't know. Add to that GT5's updates and such and gosh, its just a mess.

I may get it when or if it goes on sale, but lately I have been noticing the new trend with video games is to release it as a beta and nickle and dime you with DLC, now I am 30 years old and honestly I am primarily a gamer the chooses PC over consoles and I remember when you could get downloadable content for free, that and the amount of patching that has been happening lately with any game that get released is frankly just ridiculous.
Seems like the paying customer nowadays is just basically a beta tester.

so you're just paying for things you (in a sense) have already. But that said, MW3's beta wasn't open to a lot of people and at least they are offering the "Hardened" edition which gives you free DLC for a whole year. I think they mentioned they will be releasing DLCs every month for a few months. But if you don't have the Hardened edition then yes, they will nickle and dime you. GOW3 offers a "Season Pass" which gives 33% off DLCs, but that game is started to go downhill and will probably be done for once MW3 out.

I had taken the day off and then something came up at work so I had to cancel my vacation day
Instead I will just not sleep that night and beat the campaign and head to work then.

Apparently getting an early copy isn't a good thing.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 released early in US by K-Mart – Xbox gamers could face account suspension

Early copies of hotly-hyped Xbox 360 and PS3 title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have been released (and since pulled) by US retailer K-Mart ahead of its official launch next Tuesday. The leak has caused a bit of an uproar and Activision (by way of Microsoft) has issued a statement regarding the consequences of playing an early copy.

Microsoft had previously tweeted and told those playing a prematurely purchased copy of COD:MW3 that if “your copy is legit and obtained legitly, have fun. It’s a great game” but after consulting with publisher Activision the mood changed and Xbox LIVE’s Director of Policy and Enforcement, Stephen Toulouse’s statement became revised – “Mw3 pre-release play not authorised. So pls be patient. Playing early may impact your account.”
This comes after Toulouse had previously stated that games purchased early, but legitimately, were not affected by the policies, and that bootlegs were separately identified and dealt with severely. With this in mind, the COD:MW3 early sale would therefore be acceptable by Microsoft’s policy. There’s no word yet on how Sony PS3 and Playstation Network users might be affected.
What Activision want us to believe now is that US early-owners of the shooter, Modern Warfare 3, despite owning a real deal copy – and not a bootleg or leak (like the previous Gears of War 3 leak) – they could find themselves locked out of their Xbox LIVE account for a temporary period after accessing the online multiplayer aspect of the game.
K-Mart reports that they were instructed to sell copies immediately following the shipment’s arrival in store, so stocks went on sale yesterday 5 days ahead of schedule and many lucky buyers in New York and Florida, of course, grabbed this year’s must-have threequel. Unknowingly and completely void of fault, some gamers may find themselves unjustly affected by the store’s blunder.
Since the K-Mart error copies of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have been snapped up by impatient players on eBay for up to $200.

Pretty stupid to penalize the consumer for what is clearly not their fault. They were able to get the game, and then they were able to play it online. Both things which are caused by other factors. They should have shut the servers down when people started playing. The F do they think people are going to do when they get an early copy of the game??? idiots. (not the consumers)
I'm with M$ on this one. A copy of the game was leaked and people have been playing backup copies on modified consoles (been out since last weekend.)
If they give you a warning and you still end up playing the game, it's your own fault. The same thing happened to MW2 and Forza 3 two years ago when there was a massive banwave on the 360. People with legit games were banned from Live for playing the game early. I believe they can tell who played the game before release date by looking when the achievements were earned.

oh if they are playing on modified consoles, I don't have a problem Microsoft banning them for that (because they had already done this in the past). But don't ban people because some moron who works at Microsoft caused the game to be leaked early and then some moron(s) at Microsoft allowed the game to be played on their network.
but this is what I was going off of - this is why I said what I said:

While I agree with you, when they posted this they probably assumed the retailers would be following the rules and not sell any copies early. I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft leaked the downloadable copy themselves just to flag the people with the modded consoles.

Wait the under mount grenade launcher is gone? I will seriously be pissed about that. I don't use it in the Noob fashion but could on command hit someone completely across the maybe more than 90% of the time. I don't consider that Noob tubing.
