Xoulu's GTR Build 2011-2012

Hey All

Sorry for the long delay in this process but finally got the time to sit down and start my build on Acurazine.

As you all know I won the car from eBay

For memebers who have not read on it here it is

Basically I got back to Alaska and ordered some parts.

First thing I ordered were TIRES! Needed blizzaks as winter was already coming.
I also did a oil change.

Well lets start with the build!

8/25/2011
My Birthday!
Picked up the GTR

The same day I dropped off the car to get it wrap (White on Carbon Fiber)to protect it from road conditions driving it back to Alaska.

This is where I got to meet members oo7spy and Majofo.
Too bad oo7spy had to leave but Majofo got to test drive the GTR

One last picture as I left Texas!

On the way back we took some pictures but my friend didn't give me those pictures and he lost it so no road trip pictures =(

Anyways as of 2/8/2012
I have no performance parts installed as waiting for better weather to permit.
Parts I have in hand are

Performance
AAM Downpipe
AAM Midpipe
Nissan 2012 Inlet Pipe
XS Power Exhaust
GotBoost Intake
GotBoost upper I/C with HKS BOV4
ID 1000cc Injectors
Stage 2 transmission build by Shep (with this I can launch the car without worry of a broken tranny lol)

Exterior
Full wrap of either matte black or orange (This is already paid for just waiting to take it in the shop to get it wrap and choose color)
Two sets oem wheels (one winter and one summer)
Wingless trunk
Clear front and side markers
LED Running lights

The trip took forever but when I got back to Alaska and did a mini photoshoot with a buddy.

This was also when I ordered my Cobb AP with TCM capabilities.

I used the tune that came with it on 90 octane as thats the highest Alaska offers.

After my tune I got V1 with mirror mount on the GTR!

On 10/20/11

I got my tires and brakes! Already prepared for winter!

Front tires

Rear tires

Shocking things were these tires were made specifically for the GTR lol

It usually runs $1500-3000.

The wrap is already coming off and I will post pictures of it later but my next wrap will be either matte black or orange.

How long does it typically last? Did it just start peeling off?

Admittedly, it's not the whole car but my '98 328i has a vinyl wrapped roof and it's fine. I've had the car almost a year (drove it back from Chicago) and it's outside all the time.

If it's done right, I would guess it should last a few years.

Thanks for the update, OP!

You so deserve to enjoy the hell out of your GT-R, even during the winter.

As someone who drives a supercar during the winter myself, I give you major props for doing the same.

They usually last 5-7 years depending on how you take care of it... also depends on how good the install was

My is not peeling its just my gf drove my car and scratched it with ice on the road. But the original paint is still in Mint condition

They sure are expensive! Tires alone were $1800 lol

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!

Going to install all my parts next week Friday! (2/17/2012)
My install will cost me $1650...

Price breakdown
Downpipe Midpipe and Exhaust -$650
Intake and Upper pipe with BOV - $455
Injectors - $390
Heat wrap - $155

I'm getting all my parts heat wrapped and installed.
The installer advised he should get the car done by Wednesday by latest.
He said he will take pictures of getting it heat wrapped and install for me.

I also forgot to mention that I will be dynamatting my whole car.
I will use dynamat xtreme and estimate is about 90 sq feet of it lol... for roof, front, floor, rear, door and trunk.

Anyways here are pictures below of the parts...
Some of the parts are still in the box so I'll use the manufacturer pictures but I will get the pictures of the parts once I get it to install

Gotboost Upper IC

Gotboost 3" intake

AAM Midpipe

My duckbill trunk

My summer stock wheels

Injectors

Daylight Running light

After my parts install I will be getting a tune from Sean Ivey.
Hopefully I'll make about 550-600whp on 90 octane.
I'm sure it would be more if it was on 93 or e85.

Here is the peel... well not really a peel but yeah... the black paint is still in MINT condition but it's fine I'm getting rewrapped and this time it will be done properly!

Here is a picture of it parked at work when it was below 0 and ice started to build up on my wing!

Here is a picture of it in snow... This was the first time it snowed last year which was 10/30/11

Just incase anyone is wondering...
I have two sets of gun metal stock wheels. 1 set is for winter and the other set is for summer until I'm able to afford some expensive wheels lol

5-7 years under the correct parameters and not streched.

Vinyl is a very temperamental material, at about 40f it gets VERY brittle. Anything sustained under that, and its longevity will fall into the 6 months to one year range. Also, if it has been heated and "wrapped" it suffers a little.

In for the the updates.

Didn't know that. So is there a way to make it more extreme cold-tolerant?
