Well...the S2000 needed more doors, more driven wheels, and a lot more torque...

Congrats Sam, thing looks awesome.
Any said videos of that thing in Mexico? I did some Googling and had no idea that thing runs 11s - awesome.

That sounds awesome...
big expense and the disappointment of selling the Tesla for less than you expected, so I'm certainly not going to make you feel worse.
It is definitely one of the coolest EV I've seen with all the stuff it can do. I'm interested in the Hummer EV but you already know it ain't gonna
be affordable this lifetime for me.
Mmmmm...with lightroom you could bring up the shadows and bump the color to make it more obvious, or mess with light painting if you wanted
to get creative. Just kidding, that's pretty involved and you have a LOT of other stuff going on.
Well, 30's doesn't sound horrible at all!
I spent a few holidays in Switzerland and it was negative 20 or something like that (Celsius)...I remember we came out from a dinner in the mountains
and my Uncle's brother had a rental from Italy that hadn't been winterized and were out there trying to move the shifter knob around to get it to thaw out.

It's not the fact that this thing is fast, it's technically about the same as the Tesla, it's just the feeling of how hard it pulls to move this much mass that fast. It's also a lot more powerful at the top end. Too bad the top speed is limited to 114mph. Would go faster through the 1/4 without the limiter since it caps out before the finish line lol.

QQ - did you opt for the paint protection? If so, does it cover the whole hood and both fenders, or does it stop half way?

FWIW, if one were to opt for it, it does cover the whole hood, front, fenders, and A pillars. Only things it doesn't cover are the lights which are probably pretty easy to DIY.

can't you just "hey siri, erase scratch" from factory?
It does sound like a hoot, I know what you mean...the bigger and more substantial the thing the faster it feels since you have never felt anything you've driven before that SIZE feel fast. So it's probably a bit of a brain trip.
Damn, governor set to 114?!?! Same as the damn Z06

My 96 Saturn had a higher top speed, 116, and it felt like hitting a wall when the fuel cut kicked in.

Top speed is limited because of the tires, the all terrains have a max speed of like 130mph or something.

Rivian has gotten Doug Demuro's car of the year for two years straight. Last year it was the R1T and this year it's the R1S. The SUV is amazing if you don't need/want the truck bed.

I definitely grab some pics for you my friend. Will do it as soon as the weather gets better lol. We're past the gloomy part, now it's just straight up shitty.
I'll take some vids and send them over the gram once it clears up! Currently supposed to get 7-10" of snow today with a winter storm warning and potential blizzard conditions...not optimal for launching lol.

I've only seen two of the SUV's. One was out driving and the other was at the delivery center as a demo unit. Took a look inside the SUV and it's really fucking nice. Once the cheaper, lower powered dual motor ones start going out these will sell like crazy. Not a lot of soccer mom's will give a shit about having the quad motor setup for an extra $20k but will definitely go for the cheaper one with "only" 600hp lol.

Thats what I meant. More budget friendly will get more sales. And Kia has been getting lots of rave reviews in general to include the ev6. Vinfast also has a 3 row on the way but they are in the same price range as Rivian and unproven (more so than Rivian).

I'd trade the 3 for an EV6 GT tomorrow if the range was better. 206 miles is horrendous. I think they look great and the interior is nice. I've been seeing a ton of them (not GTs though) lately.

True - the majority of my roadtrips in the 3 have been in the 70-80% efficiency range, mainly due to the speed I'm traveling. The longest drive between stops was 208.6mi, and that used 84% of the battery (averaging 71mph). I don't know how anyone would match Teslas 300+ mile range.

The range estimates from Tesla are total garbage whereas most competitors quote a "worst case" range and not a best case range similar to how horsepower ratings are stated.

Starting to see a lot more of them around!
Truck is going in for front end PPF and PPF on the top part of the tailgate this Thursday. I'll grab some pics after since they'll wash it and right now it looks disgusting lol.
The top part of the tailgate is the only place to grab to shut it so that paint is inevitably going to get jacked up hence the desire for PPF there.

Finally had a nice sunny day outside to take some pics of the truck and give some feedback after living with it for two weeks.
Pros:
Truck in "kneel" mode that drops it down to make it easy to get in/out of:
Highest ride height, limited to 20mph:
Pros:
- It's fast as duck. Seriously, this thing hauls ass. Even in it's "conserve" mode which effectively turns it into a FWD truck, it's still faster than a lot of cars on the road today. When in sport launch, it'll snap someone's neck and this is coming from someone who had a Tesla Performance before.
- The frunk is actually incredibly useful and I find myself using it all the time compared to never using the frunk in the Tesla. It's big enough to put my kid's stroller in and still put in the Costco haul for the week.
- The under bed storage bin is great but I'm not really sure what I'll use it for. Will probably toss in some of my off road gear from the Jeep and leave it in there. I don't think I'll be taking this off road anytime soon given the lack of charging close to any off road areas in MN.
- Interior is fantastic, super high quality, well made, and well put together. Seats are super comfy and there's tons of room in the back seat.
- Sound system is probably the best one I've ever heard in any car I've been in.
- Gear tunnel is a neat trick but I'm not sure I'll actually use it all that much. We'll see though.
- Screens are great, clear, and high res. They definitely fixed the camera issues from early production units as mine are fine. The 360 cam is definitely useful.
- Does awesome in the snow even on non-dedicated winter tires. Don't think I'm going to get a different set for this one as it does just fine from my experience so far.
- It's wonderful having a gauge cluster again.
- The animations and overall screen setup is far superior to Tesla. It just looks and performs like a high end vehicle in every way.
- Having real blind spot indicators is also fantastic.
- The driver assist stuff isn't quite up to par with Autopilot but I'd say it's 95% of the way there. No phantom braking though and the steering wheel is touch sensitive so you don't have to tug the wheel all the time.
- The phone key blows. This seriously needs to be improved. Even with the normal key, it doesn't respond nearly fast enough which sucks. Especially in the cold/rain.
- The visualizations of the truck's surroundings while driving are nowhere near as good as Tesla. It knows stuff is there but doesn't easily differentiate between a car/truck/SUV/motorcycle/semi like Tesla's does.
- The bluetooth speaker is a total gimmick. I doubt I'll ever use it and I wish it was an option that you could opt out of. Would rather have that as storage space.
- The wireless charging pad is not nearly grippy enough. Phone slides around easily even under normal non-spirited driving. Hoping the aftermarket fixes this soon. Also the charging itself is slow.
- The built in navigation isn't the greatest. It's fine but the maps aren't 100% aligned with Google Maps which seems like an odd thing to swing and miss at for something like this. For example, I live in a new development and, while the Tesla knew where it was at, the Rivian thinks my house is in a field and doesn't recognize my address as even existing.
- Could use some more cup holders, especially in the doors to hold bottles and stuff. For an American truck, only having 4 cup holders seems pretty light. The ones that are there work pretty well though.
- Would be nice to be able to have some more customization for the screens. It's pretty fixed right now, especially the quick access icons on the main screen. Would love to be able to change/reorder these to my liking.

Very cool!
I'm not sure what is going on but last week on my L.A. Trip both Apple and Google maps freaked out numerous times. I'd be where I needed (10 freeway west going and east coming back) and was told to turn on such and such street and get on the 10) as an example.
Was irritating to say the least.

Congrats on delivery! And good choice on the colour
How does the phone key work? Do you need to open an app or is there some sort of proximity sensing?

Phone key works via bluetooth just like it does on Tesla and I'm guessing many others. You can unlock via app if you need to but it's not required.

Yes sir! I love this car seat, it's expensive but it's so nice and easy to install/remove quickly. We had a Chicco one too that I absolutely hated, will never go back to that.

We have a wide variety of brands, I don't think any of them actually fit together... We have the Nuna car seat in both cars (love it), a BOB jogging stroller for daily walks (it's great but not travel friendly), and an Uppababy minu (I think?) travel stroller for everything else. It folds to about the size of a briefcase which is awesome but it definitely came with a substantial price tag.
Hoping to flip her to front facing soon though, the campaign to do that has begun.
