Volvo VT830...

Whoa...that's...alot of torque!

:ibtfirstrapperwhowantsthisashisgangstaride...yo:

Titanic truck packs a punch

We've come over all Chris Eubank at the sight of this behemoth truck.

This bad boy tractor unit may come from sensible Volvo, but there's a 16-litre engine under that protruding snout. This unit packs 625bhp and an amazing 2,250lb ft of torque.

But it's not all work and no play for the VT830. The truck has a 'living room' that makes most one-bedroom flats look pokey, thanks to a full-sized bed, kitchen with sink, and even a proper table and chairs.

All of this is backed by a mere three-year, 600,000-mile warranty.

Sadly for British truck types, the VT830 is solely for the US market, where it will set owners back around the equivalent of £75,000.

I have my CDLs: so I'm gonna put my 2 cents in on this.
Dad has a 99 Western Star with Cat 12 liter it's 410 hp and 1550 ft lbs of torque. it's a small 12 liter. but I've had 30 ton of cargo plus the weight of the truck and trailer. which is overloaded because by DOT laws you must have a special permit or escorts to transport anything including rig and trailer with cargo weight over 40 ton legally.
however I've ran at 45 ton a few times. but even running on interstate I was running 65-70 mph and I couldn't even feel 35 tons behind me. so 625 hp and 2250 is like shooting a deer with a tank. . The cam in this thing has to be HUGE. fuel mileage sucks on that Volvo because like cars the bigger the motor the more fuel it consumes.

what most people don't realize is most truckers clock 150-200 k a year on their rigs so yeah 600k is a lot of miles but in comparision to cars it's about the same. Most cars are 3-4 years and 45-60k warrenty.except kia and hyundai i know.

peterbuilts can be built to be more luxurious if you dump the cash into them.
matter of fact, I wanted dad to get a Pete when he got his western star. but it's like 45 mins each way from the house to a Pete dealer vs 15-20 mins to a western star dealer.

I didn't realize how much room is inside Volvo trucks. The 4th one is from the VT830.
