Doesn't the patent for the arrows end soon? I hear this month?

Maybe it's time to update the V1 with GPS.

Just an update for an old thread.....
I was tagged with laser today 55 in a 40. The V1 WAS SILENT. No alert at all. The cop was hiding in the bushes on foot & as I approached jumped out & waved me to pull over.
Can't believe in 2013 we can't defeat these things? WTF?
The laser guns are getting very small too. This guys was palm sized & looked like a spotting scope. That small. I got a warning so no big deal but no V1 alert has me thinking to slow it down more often.

you sure it wasn't LIDAR? Which the V1 can't detect? I have been so de-sensitized to my V1 I really don't even pay attention to it anymore.

LIDAR is laser

Just found the model that was used...It's a Kustom Signals Pro-Lite+

I thought they were different kinds of light technologies (I know the "L" in both stand for light) that also made the detection technology different as well. Guess I was incorrect.

My V1 has always picked up the lasers that hit me, or at least the ones I know about. Only once have I ever been "warned" by a stray signal. V1 even admits that all the alert tells you is that you're screwed.

I looked into these, but Texas made them a Class C misdemeanor in 2011. http://www.blinder.net/blinder-m47.htm

I received an email from Escort last month stating they had a new detector out. It seems to be getting good reviews. Might want to check it out.

That and the Escort detectors look better hanging from the windshield. Arrows are a gimmick and not needed.

I got a add from them a few months back. It will probably be my X-mas gift to myself.

So far my V1 has saved me every time. I've thought about getting something newer, but so far, it has worked. I returned my two original V1's, that I've had since '94, for updated ones last year. So far, so good. I wish they had GPS, but it's not a deal breaker. Maybe give them a call and ask about certain lasers.

I will get false laser signals from certain model Chevy TrailBlaser tail lights and from the Infinity systems.

Me too. The remote for my stereo triggers it.
The model gun used is a newer unit. I sent an email to V1 with questions. I always got a alert on a laser before. Maybe it was too late to do anything but it still alerted. I had the 8500 back in 02 & ran it side by side with the V1. The V1 was superior in almost all tests I did. The KA alert was a bit longer then the V1 but still way in advance

I only use my V1 on longer freeway jaunts....but Im starting to get over the huge amount of falsies it gets.

Escort has been interesting me...but I doubt I would upgrade anything for awhile.

If you have a smart phone and have a car charger, you may want to check out the app "Waze Social GPS and traffic." I know a few people who use it and it will alert you to most speed traps. It will drain your phone battery, but if you can keep the phone plugged in, you're good.

Interesting, i found it the opposite. And my 9500 is even better.

^they don't work. In fact I did some testing with my buddy's set-up and barrowed gun. I actually picked up the car from a greater distance with the Jammers on.

I stopped using a detector when I was driving that POS Ford. The IR glass rendered it useless. I just pay the tickets I get and call it part of life.

I use Waze all the time, great app for GPS and real time traffic!

One time, I was about to drive to FL from NY, and my V1 lighter plug died on me, leaving me to drive down without a radar. I ended up using Trapster, which worked flawlessly. Sure it shows EVERY speed trap, whether someone is there or not, but something's better than nothing!

I don't care how the V1 looks. It works (with a few laser falsies), even the laser. Can't give up the arrows. I recently saw a cop at the side of the freeway, I slowed down just before he clearly tagged me with a laser. Thankfully, by that point I was 5 above the limit and he didn't show any interest in me.

The only issue I have is laser falsies, usually with 1) big Infiniti grilles behind me, or 2) bright sunlight reflecting off other cars.

V1 is still the one.

Certain brake lights (GMC/Chevy), ANY car that has a laser guided cruise control (Infiniti & Volvo Especially), sets off the V1's laser detector. I was behind a BMW Z8 a while back and every time he was on his brake, my V1's laser detector went off...And that's Neon lighting!

Sharif? At Forged Performance? Dude is a saint and one of the most honest people you will ever meet. Take his word over anyone's, and if he wants to tune your GT-R, consider it a blessing.
