the blendmount will be available soon. It's in the final stages of testing.
I was a beta tester for the Blendmount mount for the Acura frameless mirror that comes on the Tech and Advance purchase. I know for a fact that they are now shipping a Blendmount for the TLX mirror that's on these models, I just received mine this week. The standard mirror wasn't a problem. The Blendmount Part Number for the frameless mirror mount is BMX-2031 and they identify this mirror as ACU-008. Below is a link to the mount. Remember, this is only for the new frameless mirror that is on the Tech and Advance models.
For me the best alternative for my TL was to buy an extra metal mount and glue the mount directly to the windshield up high near the tint strip. I found the best glue is from rhinoglue.com and it lasts about 3-4 years before the UV breaks down the bond. I then simply glue the mount again and I'm good for another 3-5 years.
The best features of this are:
-stealthness. The blend mount doesn't hide the detector and I would be concerned about breakins. It also would seem pretty obvious if you should get pulled over as well.
- no wiggle- my old blend mount caused the detector to vibrate a lot and that drove me crazy. In my new solution I put a couple drops of RTV on the back edge of my detector and that squishes nicely into the windshield and the mount is rock solid as a result of that. Perhaps the new blend mounts work better and this is not such an issue. I noticed that mostly with my Honda Pilot going offroad which made me seek another solution.
There is no damage to windshield that I have seen over the 9 years I have been doing this. Rhino glue is clear and a razor blade cleans up the residue pretty well. If I should buy a TLX, I would do the same thing again.
Weird, my 6 year old Blendmount worked with my Valentine 1 on a 2003 Audi S4, 2005 Lexus IS350, 2006,2007, and 2008 Toyota Tacoma, 2013 Acura TSX and now my 2015 TLX. It works flawlessness on all these cars, why is there a New part number for the new TLX?
