As much as I'm a sucker for Avants ... the 4.2 never did it for me.
IF the S4 does sell ... well, I'll just spill the beans. 2016-2017 M2 6MT is the front runner.
I know I know, it doesn't have the detuned M3 engine like the 2019 competition, but the N55 is no slouch and the reliability speaks for itself.
The fact it has forged crank & rods from factory is a good sign ... I have a feeling that motor will have no problem with additional boost if I get the power itch.

are you getting tired of pulling out engines and now want something "reliable"?

Sort of. Last month or so has been too much - especially taking on that customer car / juggling everything in my personal life.
Every person who had a well running Stage 3 B5 S4 and sold it said they immediately regret it / eventually crawled back ... but I don't know how many of those people currently own an M2

Not planning to pull out anymore....
You sure M2 is the logical choice? May i suggest Sienna SE?
I'm curious (bi) because it keeps getting mentioned...
how much would it have cost to go OEM K04 rather than the Chinese turbahs?
I think that you need to take a deep breath...finish the other car...I think you might
be overwhelmed by your little bs straggling issues AND having to figure that ladies
car out for a couple of bucks. If it was only yours you might feel differently.
Your car is the last time I saw an interior that made me think wow...that is old and that is
classy. A time capsule...in the right color, mainly sorted with enough projects to keep you
from getting bored AND fast and more importantly FUN TO DRIVE.
You being handy and having a working garage and a dream of owning an M car makes me think you'd
be better served finding an E46 M3 that needs some love as a revolving OTHER side project.

It would cost around $1500-$1750 / my labor to do a OEM BW setup ... I'd have to get OEM RS4 turbo inlets too - In reality, it's not really worth it the labor / cost for something that will give me 0 performance upgrade.
And much appreciated, maybe it's the case of the grass is always greener. I'll leave the ad up and slowly bring it back to tip top shape. Maybe add the methanol kit

I love E46 M3s but their rear subframe wouldn't survive my driveway - as a drivers car for the money, E46 is definitely at the top of the list for many but the fact it doesn't make much torque kind of turns me off from it.

The later model years didn't have the rear subframe issues that the early ones did. Also, it has lots of torque if you boost it...
In my head, I'm not really interested in doing another project from the ground up... learning a whole new platform (in terms of doing an all out project) is exhausting.
I wasn't implying that you should go OEM turbos...just wondering what the cost differential would be since that one guy mentioned it...for $2000 I would have gone the route you did too.
It was just an idea...maybe even a 135 twin turbo bitch to daily drive? Sell fit, get that...have 2 turbo fun and fast cars? I don't know...maybe you won't even want to go BMW after
getting your hands on one...kinda try one out cheap first to see how you feel like I did with the round and brown A3 that I STILL kinda miss to this day.

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, I also know a lot more than I used to ... I could have gotten turbos much cheaper had I rebuilt them myself vs buying new.
A 135i has entered my head many times .. with an LSD / JB4 and some proper tires it would be a riot.
M2 is a great choice.... the best BMW there is in terms of "BMW". or the next best thing is M240i.... seriously, even with the most basic tune, it is probably just as fast if not faster than M2 (non Comp) without the fancy body works, of course.
fortunately for you, i aint got 1.... YOLO till i die!!
Obviously we all want a super model who is wild as fuck in bed, but in reality would you want a super model who is a dead fish in bed or an average chick who is fucking O.M.G speechless in bed?
Yah that is what i thought
Random question... how are you liking your Swisstrax garage flooring? I'm thinking of doing something similar in my garage, do you feel like you have to "pull it apart" every once in awhile to clean under them? Also, how'd you handle the edges?

RaceDeck actually made these tiles, but to answer your question:
Every once in awhile I will take my shop vac and suck up any loose debris that get in between the cracks. I've had a few oil spills but they were relativity easy to clean up since the front of my car is about 3-4ft from where it pulls up.
Every time I open the garage it's such a neat sight ... I really don't mind the drawbacks
