CAI ordered early Decmber. finally came. AFE stepped up, upgraded the cai, threw in a second filter & cleaning kit I knew about & sent a bonus backpack.
I have driven it a bit more. Closed it was the same temp as OEM, it sounds great and feels fine. I'm pretty sure any perceived gains are strictly due to the placebo effect.
Air intakes don't make much for measurable gains these days. If it was that easy to make a bunch more power with an easy and cheap air intake then they would have done it from the factory lol.

My point exactly. There were a slew of emission vacuum hoses I wanted gone, which is why I ordered the tube that deletes them (ports they went to blocked with plugs) I got the cai for less than 1/2 price due to their inability to fulfill the order in anything resembling a reasonable timeframe, they definately stepped up and made a bad situation better.
After installing the intake, I saw that my throttle body was dirty, after cleaning it I installed an oil catch-can. I didn't want to spend upwards of 200 on the can so I found this pretty nifty one for 40 delivered on eBay.
It's in using stuff I had lying around and I'm happy.
The catch can was drawing air & making a lot of noise. I'm pretty sure causing another intake port & ruining the PVC vacuum I have this without the filter:
So I dragged this out of my drawer of parts:
Installed the filter over it & cranked down the clamp, no noise!
It's a big day! We have interaction between the truck & new cluster. It sees the tach & is getting 4HI & oil pressure & gas level and a few other CAN signals from the truck!
This just happened! the truck is in 4HI, ABS & traction will go away when I restart or I may need to reset 0 point calibration. I can't use it yet as my breadboard is dying, I have a permanent board & 5V converter coming from Amazon tomorrow.
Nice! Is there a market for these swaps? Selling this could bring in some decent play money.
The brute force address sniffing of the new addresses was done over a year of evenings & weekends by someone else so it would be unethical of me to try to do anything with it but for my own truck(s)
Also, I doubt there are three people crazy enough to do this even with it already laid out. I'm very close to 1500 into it (much of it has been a "crafts" hobby) with a legitimate result which is how I look at it. I enjoy the chase as much if not more than the product.
I am pretty stoked with the result.
My breadboard has taken a crap from all the reconfiguring so I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver a 5v converter and PCB I can solder the CAN and Teensy into so I can make it permanent.
