Push to start, hazard and TRD Pro Sequoia letters that are matte not shiny are out for delivery, without the lens on the gauge cluster the upper dash "fits"
Soooooo000 I took the truck to the bodyshop Thursday night, they were "overbooked" and said they could not work on it for a week. Having already waited 2 weeks for them I said good day sir!
The PDR guy came & made it like it was not there, saved me more than 500 bucks, he gave me a company that does bumpers that are coming Tuesday to give me a quote, they did not want to from pictures.
It's coding the CAN. The addresses changed. I need an emulator that will take in the data from the truck and send it to the correct address at the cluster. I have been getting a ton of help from a guy on Tundras that made his regular cab short bed 2007 into a 2018+ and all he has left is the cluster.
Here is his message on that:
This is the part where this swap gets really tough and probably the reason nobody has actually pulled it off yet. The wiring was the easy part. You have now made it as far as I did about a year ago then quit.
As I have mentioned everything can be fixed with the CAN bus signals. The CAN H and CAN L wires you hooked up are a massive network of data flowing in and out of the cluster and all the ECUs. The data is sent with an address line and then 8 bytes of data.
For example (address) 2C4 (Data) 20 12 00 01 45 00 12 34
Would be one message all in Hexadecimal.
Almost all the data to run the cluster comes in on these messages: Speed, Rpm, Coolant Temp, Fuel Use, All indicators/lights, Warning messages, 4wd , Key On/Off, Door open signals, and more.
The problem is really the address of the message. Most are the same (reasons some things are working now) but some have moved addresses. The address can be one of over 1,000 variables. The 2018 cluster is looking for addresses with data that your trucks ECUs are not producing. For example on 2007-2017 the RPM signal is sent from the engine Ecu on address 2C4. However on 2018+ it was moved to address 1C4. So your truck is sending the RPM signal out on 2C4 but the newer cluster is looking for it on 1C4. It can’t see it being on the wrong address so the gauge doesn’t work.
Same for all the LDA, PreCollison warning messages. The 2018 cluster knows that address 411 is data from the front radar. Your truck has no front radar ecu and doesn’t even transmit a message on the 411 address but the cluster is looking for it. When it sees nothing it shows the error message.
I have spent almost a full year now, first mapping all the signals produced by my 2007 truck. Addresses, data location ect. Then more recently trying to figure out what data moved where on the 2018+. I have read almost every Toyota CAN bus log file on the internet and spent hours playing back data to my clusters.
To me the only way this works is with a 3rd party CAN microchip, translator wired in between the cluster and the body harness of your truck. It would read data in from the truck, move it to the new address and send it out to the new cluster. So it would have to be programmed to read the data coming in on the 2C4 address, then turn around and send that same data out on the 1C4 address to the cluster to make the RPM work. That is one of about 10 address that need to be moved or created. I have figured out how to do all this just sending the data from my laptop but programming a microchip inline with the truck to automatically do it is the next step if this is ever going to work.
And that bullshit is why I don't like these new cars that are rolling computers. That's such a headache. Should just be able to switch one wire to another pin and make things work.
But it sounds like this is the kind of challenge you like. Good luck, I'm rooting for you!

Agreed.

I doubt that. You may not want to do the projects I do (and I'm not up for many of yours) but we are similar in the fact we persevere and get them done.
Need a chest Xray, went to Simonmed, 3 hour wait (they do not accept appointments) I said ok, I'll be back in 2+ hours, no, you have to sit here. Give me back my referral.
She's talking about their policy, my policy is to ignore stupid policies. Let me make an appointment & keep me waiting an hour or let me walk in and come back a bit before the time you quote.
They open at 8:30, I'll get there about 8 tomorrow and hopefully be at the front when they open.
We use the garage 99.999999999% of the time to come & go. There was a delivery, between the garage & house is the laundry room. There are doors on both sides of the laundry room. I usually treat it as an "airlock" to keep flies out & dogs in. I did not shut the inner door, garage was open, puppy came into the garage. I stopped rapidly to contain him, fell and landed on the 2500ah battery backup I have on the garage door and landed on my chest. This will be 3 Saturdays ago tomorrow, still hurts.
Sneezing felt like I was reenacting the Christ impalement. It still hurts to sneeze & cough. I do not recommend it.
My TPMS, which worked for a year stopped yesterday. Gauges are fine. Weird stuff, I was going to call IDATALINK but thought, let's see if there is a new firmware.
Immediately after the update (so glad I bought the Bluetooth version)
Since I have had the Sequoia for a year and know it expires in May I logged into the the MVD site and it says 8 days. Luckily it does not need smog so I paid it. I am used to getting a notice so I call, tell the woman I just paid my registration online and it was expiring in 8 days and I have another car that expires next month and I am concerned about that one.
She is relatively rude and asks if I have an account online. I literally just told her not only that I do but I paid for my renewal and am concerned about the other car she says it's a courtesy notice and we're debating continuing it.
I said you could have just said I'm sorry you did not get your notice, sorry the system is buggy from an upgrade and we have not finalized the notices but good thing you have the account and were proactive instead of being rude & hung up.
