Trade for a manual or not

I own an automatic 2008 Acura TL type s with 70k miles, and i found a manual 2007 Acura TL type s with 65k miles and asking price is $17,000 at a small dealership, and I’m kinda thinking of trading in my Acura and offering cash on the side and trying to negotiate that price down because $17k seems like way to much . Or should i just keep my Acura and in future swap the transmission

17k sounds ridiculous, even for a low mileage example.

$17k can buy you a far better car with a manual, that price is beyond insane.

Check the For Sale section here; I believe there is a Type-S 6MT currently for sale with under 100,000 miles and priced at about $14,500 (if I recall correctly).

Bro I paid $17,675 for a semi-low mileage Type-S EIGHT years ago. They are really banking on the right person to buy it.

Or ask the dealer if they would take your car and $2K. Worth a shot.

These dealers continually give themselves a bad name with pricing like this. You know they couldn't have given more than 7-9k as a trade.

What would be considered a fair price for this car?

I am talking with the dealer trying to negotiate a price see if he will drop the price since i plan on paying cash and the cars been on there lot for a while. But what would be considered a fair price for a car like this, i know 6MT are rare.

Over the last year there have been a few low mileage Type-S 6MT models in stellar condition which have sold in the mid $14,000 to $15,000 price range. Those would be prices which would line up with a "fair price" in my mind.

I'd pay this much for an absolutely pristine, super low mileage example. For this one, with 65k on the clock, I personally wouldn't pay any more than $12k for it. There are plenty of superior, and newer, cars that can be had with a manual for the same price and that would make it hard for me to drop $15k on a 12 year old TL.

^ This.

No sense negotiating .. find one private party with records and go from there.

Otherwise, keep the auto if it's not worth the effort.

THIS. For $17k, you might as well buy a S2000 and keep your AT Type S.
