Good for you...

I remember the joy of owning a roadster before I had kids over a decade ago. At one point, my garage stored three Miatae; the last one went when I picked up the TL in '08. Sometimes I get a little teary-eyed when I think about it. Alas, the family has grown over the years. I still have the TL, and I have been most recently commuting in a 2G TSX. That's about ready to go on the market since my wife picked up a 2G MDX a couple weeks ago, and I'll be back in the TL for the indefinite future. The next vehicle will be something fun. I've considered the S2000 many times over the years, but life has gotten in the way. Someday.

Do you still have a garage?
You can pick up a cheap one when you sell the TSX

I'm down to one car and I can't even park it in my garage. The opener apparently had plastic gears in it that decided to disintegrate one day. Waiting for a new one to arrive from Costco

your s2k is clean!! PNW is in the 80s today and I took the S2K for a drive with the top down and I am reminded of how great and awesome the S2000 really is. Such a great experience. If you are single, bring a girl of interest for a drive, she will enjoy the ride lol

It's not a Genie- I don't remember the brand off the top of my head, but yeah, not a Genie.

I was standing in the garage, pushed the button to open the door. Door starts lifting, about halfway through I hear the sound of some plastic bit snapping... but the door kept lifting (though the opener wasn't operating as smoothly as before). I was able to open the door a couple more times, but each time it was slower and slower.

Had the Nismo parked in the middle of the garage when this happened... next thing I see is there is like a fine plastic powder coming from the opener, on to the windshield of the car. That, and the door would no longer lift more than 10 inches off the ground.

No idea what happened, but I ordered a belt driven opener from Costco to replace it. Decided to go with a belt driven opener this time, to reduce the noise.

the screw ones need the graphite grease stuff added about once every 2 years or year or so to keep it from getting hot which eventually snaps the carrier.
belt is probably awesome.

It’s nice to see this thread is still alive even though I haven’t posted recently

At the end of this month I’ll have had the car for 3 years and I’ve done just over 30k miles. It’s not my daily driver but I drive it as much as possible; miles tend to add up quick since going to work is 73-miles round-trip.

Last month I asked a local S2000 buddy to assist with a valve adjustment. I wasn’t sure if my valves were out of spec, but I figured it might be a good idea considering how much driving I do. We got the valve cover off and found that two of my spark plug tube seals had ruptured and both tubes were half-full of oil. I don’t know how the hell I didn’t have a misfire or CEL; I felt like the car had been running fine.

Doing this made my anxiety through the roof

Needless to say I bought new four new plug seals, four new plugs, and a new valve cover gasket. The car does feel a bit more responsive…well, as much as a torque-less Honda can feel

I also did the Modifry sidemarker modification, where now the sidemarkers illuminate when the parking lights/headlights are on. I’m honestly not a huge fan of the sidemarkers on the S2000 in general, but I feel like now they serve more of a purpose

As for little stuff, I ordered a new battery tie down as the paint on my original one was starting to peel and looked like crap. I also ordered a new sticker for my fuse box cover as the original was deteriorating, which drove me crazy.

Before everything I’ve mentioned in this post, a coworker took some pictures of my car for me. I’ve had no desire to get out my DSLR, and he’s better at pictures anyways

There are more but I’m lazy

I have a set of fancy extended floormats on the way and I’m hoping to place another Sweidit order for a new armrest and e-brake boot to match the shift boot. As always, I’ll be sticking with doing little stuff here and there. Of course I would love a set of Advans or a supercharger, but baby stuff isn’t cheap I’ll do new speakers and maybe have the front bumper repainted eventually.

I hope everyone has been doing well

The seal just keeps intermittent oil from getting in.
The plug itself is threaded in and it sits deep enough on the neck of the coilpack, which has it's own rubber seal around the tip.
It would have probably been fine for a while.

Spark plug seals suck though.
Worst part about doing a valve job.
