Sorry you're not happy with them right now, but they do look good.. Hopefully it's just a matter of getting used to them..

Thank you sir. That might be a big part of it, just getting used to the new sounds and tones coming from the system. Plus I do need to be more patient and let them break in. I have a big problem with being patient, obviously.

Ha ha yep you're on the same page as me too then. It's tough. You think you've read every forum post, seen every video and have picked the perfect exhaust, then it doesn't live up to expectations and you just want to dump it and move on. Amen brotha. Well I'm going to let it break in, move on from the I just wasted $1300 view (which isn't a big deal since it's not like I can't afford it) and let it all settle. And the cutouts option is definitely not off the table. That might just be the ticket down the road. It'll just come down to which catback I'll be adding it to really.

were the FMs too tame for you and that's why you went to the Corsa? if so, why not consider putting those back on with the cutouts?

That's the thing that bothers me most; they weren't too tame. They were perfect volume-wise. I just didn't like the drone at lower RPMs so I somehow convinced myself I'd be ok with a louder system if it got completely rid of the drone. I guess that's why I'm ok with keeping the Corsa on for a while since I'll be keeping the FM catback and not selling it. It may very well go back on in the Spring, then I could have cutouts installed. That would definitely be a solution to my current dilemma other than the drone will continue to be there at low RPMs, which most people fix with turning the ECO mode off with their tuner. I may end up doing that and just turn it on when I'm going on a long highway trip.

He probably sold them...
he said they droned too much, but it was a deeper drone. I think he was after ZERO drone.

if they drone at lower RPMs and you want to get rid of that, run the cutouts open around town... then when you get on the highway at cruising speed, close them up... problem solved

i know easier said than done...

Nah I kept them. Typically I would have but I'm finally starting to figure myself out.

Does it drone if you go over 80? I just ask cause I had an exhaust that droned on the F and once you hit 80mph it went basically silent.

Nah not on those either. H pipe to mufflers then to resonators in back. Both systems use mufflers and resonators. The cure is more cow bell... um wait, I mean turning off MDS 4 cylinder mode.

I haven't gotten it that high yet. It's been wet and cold lately. I'm skured to go that fast with the Nitto Movitos in the back. Great dry traction but wet not so good.

You never had to deal with it with your 6 speed. It's not insane drone by any means. It was just I had the money and thought this would solve the drone completely. I did not. Now it's time for damage control.

Ahem.

I cut the resonators out of my 6 spd, installed flow master super 44s and ran straight pipe to the tips.

My car was LOUD and had nothing BUT drone. at about 2.5K it was at its worst.

But it was a muscle car and thats how I felt it was supposed to sound.

Personally I think it sounds great. Give it some time to break in and see what happens. Where's the rev video??

Yeah but the drone I'm talking about is when MDS kicks in and its running on 4 cylinders. It creates a completely different exhaust tone/sound that has a buzzing resonance, not a booming V8 exhaust sound which is the drone you're talking about.

Yeah I'm not unhappy with the sound of the exhaust 75% of the time, really only when the car automatically goes into ECO 4 cylinder mode. I'll see if I can get a revving video up soon.

Well, thats a simple fix. Plug in your tuner and turn MDS off. Problem solved

Revs video. Click to listen. There's no denying it sounds much meaner than the Flowmasters.

Sounds good. Sounds like the retuned the extreme to more aggressive. I remember the older corsas were more high pitched, sounded more european than american.

Maybe, not sure. Doesn't sound European all. It's pretty obnoxious on cold starts lol. Really raspy and loud on start up.

Did some drive bys and a launch yesterday. I swear since this video the exhaust has mellowed out. I wonder if it somehow broke it in faster lol. IDK.

It was a fun little video shoot. It's definitely growing in me. Doesn't seem to be droning as much when going into Eco mode now. And it does sound pretty wicked.

Thanks Kev! It's a non-residential road that's a dead end so there's no possibility of traffic coming when doing stupid things like this. Arizona was a gold mine for deserted roads once you got outside of the urban PHX area.

Put the GoPro on the back of the car to get a POV video of the Corsa. Got home and the GoPro was not on the back any longer. Retraced my path and found said GoPro smashed to pieces laying in the middle of the road.

Doh...

Future reference, not a good place for any camera (I know they all do it) but those mics aren't good to begin with and positioning the camera like that leads to a highly distorted audio capture.

I've always been such an anal retentive fuk that I bought a damn surfboard leash to attach to it to something else as a backup.
I've wondered if external mic in trunk but camera on rear facing up so you can at least see something while filming.

Either way T...sorry to hear, man.

Leash is a good idea for an external mount.

Leash is definitely a good idea. If I replace it I'll be sure to do something like that. The odd thing is it didn't fall off after hitting a bump or during a pull, so I was hoping the memory card would be intact so I could see what happened, but it popped out when it crashed on the ground and I couldn't find it. I even went back a second time yesterday. It's so tiny it'd be nearly impossible to find.

External mic is key. And they can be had for pretty cheap. That's what I did in this video. I mounted the external mic to the rear bumper, while leaving the camera inside the car. It makes a huge difference.
