Some degenerate smashed my drivers side window

Some degenerate smashed out my drivers side window of my MDX. There goes my cell phone, stupid of me to forget it in plain site. I read here https://www.windshieldrepairtech.com...o-glass-repair that in Massachusetts windshield replacement is free.

New to the state. Any one have experience with this? Obviously to late to call a shop :-(

Agree with thoiboi... the driver side window is not the windshield, so you can forget about that approach.

I would guess you could submit an insurance claim?

Call your ins agent to see what coverage you have. In MA and I believe CT windshield replacement is typically covered. If you have comprehensive glass coverage the other windows including the sunroof may also be covered, but may have a deductible - again depends on the coverage you have. I have replaced two windshields in the past three years and I have had no out of pocket expenses.

I've heard stories of cars being broken into for pennies in the cupholder. Hence why I leave NOTHING in my cars and if I do, they go into the trunk before I leave.

Same here

Luckily the 2G TSX has a trunk lock mechanism located in the glove box, which disables the trunk open button inside the cabin. So I usually enable the trunk lock and lock the glove box, so the only way to open it is with my key fob.... or a crowbar.

Pretty much. It's getting bad in SF. Cars are being broken into just to search for things even if the interior is spotless. I pretty much assume my car is going to get a window broken so I try to avoid taking it into the city when possible.

I've seriously thought about putting on bullet proof/shatter proof glass although I assume it would then turn into a game and ultimately frustration and my entire car would be vandalized.

Hmmm, It's been a while since I was around the 2nd gen TSX but isn't their a pass through on the rear seat? I believe there is also a tether you can reach from that pass through that manually releases the trunk. If the pass through isn't locked there's still a way in.

BTW, look up "automotive jigglers". Much quieter and less suspicious than a crow bar but do require some amount of skill to operate.

My '09 doesn't have a pass through, it's blocked off. I know essentially there's a way for a thief to get in if he really wants to.... just nice to have some type of deterrent straight from the factory.
