Sold the SRT8, G37 replacement

It was time. Great car, no problems, but it needed tires & bumper repaints. I really hated black, I didn't want to dump more $ into it. It was 7 years old & I figured get what I could for it now cause it will only wear more.
Got a great price & selling off the mods.

I want used, a manual trans, no black, & not horrible on gas with decent power.
My only thought was a G37?

Ideas...................

Price range? Body style?

I don't know what you expect for MPG but according to Fuelly, G37s average 20 mpg.

4G TL w/ 6M, big beak and all.

Otherwise, 370Z or Accord.

An acceptably recent BMW 1- or 3-series or Audi A3 or A4 might be out of the price range, although the manual versions are good performers.

Maybe a Mini Cooper Works?

Ive been eying the WRX and im really impressed with it. decent power, manual trans. has good options already on. Although the Focus on paper has better MPG on paper, some of the WRX owners had gotten more than 30 mpg. unless you are heavy footed.

E46 or E92 M3 seemingly would fit the bill. Ive been happy with my E46 and you could certainly drive it more being in FL.

I don't know what mileage the E92 guys are getting but I average about 25 in mine. I can get 28 if i'm all highway.

Congrats on your purchase. Love my 2010 x Sedan, put over 60k miles on mine within 2 years, and still runs like new. My brother has the coupe (08) and loves his as well.

Nice.

Check if it still has the Infiniti battery. If it does, replace it with something else tomorrow before you have to ask for someone to jump your car.

Trust me on this.

^^ The 7spd is good. Quick shifts and rev matching. Id opt for it over the manual that comes in these cars.

Love the G37s! Congrats.

love it, leased a 10 then traded for a 12. great cars. very fun yet grown up and nice enough to have to valeted at a nice hotel/restaurant. wrx, focus... not so much maybe as a weekend track warrior type car you can beat on but not for a mature daily driver.

Have you driven the WRX or Focus ST?

They are not the old cheap pocket rockets anymore. It's a perfectly fine mature daily driver.

I wish I could have found a MT but I read the clutch has some annoyances.

LOL
You forgot big, heavy, terrible on gas, & eat tires every year. I put 2 sets of tires on that thing in 3 years plus the set that was on them when I bought it.

Something I found today...It has factory 19's!. I thought they were 18's.
The focus ST was FWD & the TQ steer is crazy in it. I did drive 1.
The wrx....I just couldn't see myself in that type of

Mods planned are simple, set of sways, strut bar, intake, & then a black grill of some kind & tinting the tails.

Congrats Fuzzy. I've had my G37S Coupe for five years. After working out the "new car kinks" it's been solid. No problems whatsoever. Here are some things you should know.
  • If your brakes squeak replace the rotors with aftermarket ones. The stock Akebonos are great, but they squeak like hell. I got Stoptech cross-drilled on all four corners, with ceramic pads. Expensive, but worth it.
  • If you want to save on tires this time around don't put the Michelin Power Pilots on your car. Great tire, but when they're worn they take a dive in performance. Realistically, you can only get about 10K on them (safely). I'm having luck with a set of Yokohomas. More road noise, but last longer.
  • Watch that curb! The factory Enkeis scratch if you breath on them too hard. Nice wheel though.
  • And as someone alluded to earlier, it's a solid 20mpg car. Funny. My wife's JGC gets better gas mileage.

Again, I've had my car for five years, and it is still a pleasure to drive. Here are the things I like about the car the most.
  • The understated elegance of the exterior design. I've grown out of my "flashy" years and this car suits me fine.
  • Plenty of power under the hood; especially over 3K RPMs.
  • No problems between services

Enjoy!

While I prefer a manual over an automatic, the 7AT in that car is glorious.
