Slow Type S's "Weekend Toys" Thread

Anyone here own one. I have always loved these and im finally in a position to afford one.

I would like to hear some opinions from some owners. how do you like it? The only thing im a little scared of is the whole LIFT issue. seems like you can lose control of the car fairly easily.

Which dealer would you be going to around your area?

Also the life issue is a result of the lack of downforce, the car is to nimble and light that it just floats sometimes. It's not a huge issue unless you're really pushing it.

Do it! This car has been on my list for a long time. A street legal go-kart with a Toyota engine... you can't go wrong!!

As was mentioned, the lift issue is really only something you'd encounter if you are really, really pushing it... likely something 95% of the owners out there will never even experience.

Is this a serious question of whether or not to buy a Lotus?!?!?

That's like asking the question: "should I eat food today?"....or "should I breathe today?"

Buy the Elise!!!!

Take it somewhere safe where you have enough room, or to a track day if you are concerned about the lift issue and get used to the car and the way it handles....it's really no big deal.

you guys have any ideas for a vanity plate? in CT you can only have 6 characters and only 2 numbers which have to be at the beginning or at the end.

so far i have
DOIN 65
LOWTUS
GET WET (might be too sexual but fitting to the car)
NO PICS

Unless you have something really creative or personal you want on your plate... don't bother going with personalized ones... unless you put GOKART or something .

I'd laugh if I saw that on an Elise/Exige!

Straight Sex.

How tall are you? I love the idea of a high revving engine behind my head... but @ 6'2" I don't know if I would fit in an Elise/Exige...

The color is pretty bright, you'll turn a lot of heads or cause a bunch of accidents.

5'7 so I should fit nicely. I was talkin to a guy on the lotus forum and hes 6'3 so you should be fine.

the seats are definitely like cardboard. i might have them reupholstered with more padding later on.

But no to the vanity plate idea.
For a vanity plate on a Lotus all I can think is "ADLTNS" the most abbreviated version of add lightness I can think of.

Nice pickup. Yellows not my color, but it looks great!

For the plates, how about 9K RPM or 9 THOU or something like that? Or what about GTS as a tribute to the Celica GTS engine that sits behind you as you drive?

I would expect the seats and everything else to be pretty thin. Isn't Lotus known for lightweight? Beautiful car.
