What worries me is that since the said mules became obsolete, we've seen no new RL mules. Or maybe I've missed them.

Either the spy photogs dont really care about it or there havent been any mules to spy on. I havent seen a damn thing online since the franken-TSX mule.

Or the mules are better hidden. For all we know an 2008 RL could be running around town with a V8 under the hood and deeply tinted windows in Arizona in the heat for testing.

I know the photos you're talking about. that was after it was released at the auto show, but before it went on sale. No real point in covering it up. And I dunno, but REALLY wouldn't trust any family with a car thats not even out yet, especially if you're trying to keep it a secret. just my two cents.

This is probably more possible. Honda has a reputation for keeping secrets very well.

That would actually be very smart of them. These taped up cars just beg to have pictures taken.

Too bad you can barely go over 100k with a Northstar without blowing the head-gasket. The old 4.9L V8 was a much more reliable motor.

wow...went a little further than i thought. like i said, i didnt just see the car and say damn, that must be a 2011. remember i spoke with the owner, and had i known it wasnt released yet i would have gotten more info. no, its not a completely different car than the 09-10, but its not the same. if it was the same car, why cant i just google it and find a pic of a 2011 rl? also, i didnt see it next door in my condo lot....its parked in the garage of a 5 million dollar home. i now hear they scrapped the v8 till 2015?

Because the 2011s are unchanged and aren't out yet.

V-8 was probably put on hold, while others say it was killed completely. It could be either, though I put my money on the latter.

It's too early for unmasked 2012 mules to be driving around, anyways.

I suspect it's either a regular 2011, or maybe a teensy refresh to make a half-assed attempt at actually getting these things off lots.

Sad, because even today it's a pretty cool car.

No, it is officially (Honda announced it last year) scrapped permanently.

Of course, if the economy comes back at gangbusters and the development dollars are there, then Honda could change their mind, especially if they can do a very effiicient V8.

I bet they just have the V-8 on hold so they have somewhere to start when the market is back near full steam.

They'll have to update it, perhaps a lot, but it's there as an engineering exercise if nothing else.

Can't believe no one posted this yet!!

Seriously, you can't start a topic about seeing a car that hasn't even officially been revealed yet without pics. Get on that stat!!

BTW, what neighborhood was it?

There are no Honda execs living in Charlotte driving yet-to-be-released models with significant changes. And I can guarantee you Rick Hendrick's wife isn't driving an Acura.

My guess is you talked to some woman who had no real clue what she was driving. Probably assumed it was a 2011 since it was new and plenty of other makes have their 2011 models out now...probably thought it had a V8 for some unknown reason.

This is why I was wondering what community he was in as the odds are either we know someone in there, or one of our friends knows someone... so I could get the scoop.
