In my case, moving BACK to Europe, since I lived there when I was little and again in high school.

Here's a color on an Audi RS6 you don't see everyday. High-res in case you want it for a wallpaper or something.

Man, I am so torn. Wait for the new Golf R to start test driving or go drive the V60 and Allroad now and if I like one, get it.

I have this feeling I will regret not waiting even though going from the ST to an R is kind of silly.

Honestly, I wish I could fit my dogs in a S5

Well, for sure try the V60 and allroad, Herr Wagonhumper.

Golf R, well, that's up to you if you can hold out for that long.

There's nothing that wrong with the Focus, I guess. It's not much better than it was a year ago when it stalled out all the time. At least it doesn't throw a check engine light now.

The Golf R is five months away. It sounds like it's going to be a heck of a car. That's why I'm torn. The V60 and Allroad are nice cars but I wish the Allroad had more HP and the V60 had AWD with the engine I want. So they're both compromises.

What sucks is that the cars I want exist. I wouldn't have to make a compromise if they would just bring them here

Well, given your choices, I think you'll have more utility in the allroad. Give it a test drive...it's not always about HP and from what I've read of the reviews of the Audi, it does not seem to be an issue.

And honestly, it's IMO the best-looking of the candidates. But, that's just me.

The test-drive will reveal all.

They are out of my budget. Trying to stay around $40K. Even with modest options, the BMW is over $45K pretty quickly.

Good idea, though.

By your parameters then, the Allroad is out of touch at base, $42,400 no options.

CPO I tell ya . . .

been spending way too much time researching wagons...got married a few months ago, and moving out to surburbia in a year or so and have the car researching itch. trying to figure out how to budget from NYC carless > mortgage + car pmts.

Step 1: Down payment on house + buy CPO wagon for us (to be turned into family hauler when kids arrive)
Step 2: Eventually pick up second car (lease) for me. Which could be swapped out to fit my car frenzy needs.

really, really, want an allroad to eventually turn into the family hauler. the best wagons are germans, but to buy a CPO and have it for 5+ years scares me. while its really tempting, the whole "let it age with no worries" rationale goes out the window, which leaves me with a TSX Wagon?

what to do...what to do...the lack of non-german wagons (for the sake of owning, not leasing) is very limiting.

I read a rumor online BMW will have a touring edition 5 series next year . . . . OTOH, I bought my '06 530xi T in March, 2007 with 19K on it. It's got 143K now and has been mainly trouble free except for expected maintenance issues. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

CPO for 6/100 is why I am looking at the Audi. Will have a warranty the entire time the car is being paid for (looking at a 4yr note).

^ yup. agreed. but in my situation, id be locking into a 3-4 year window of the remaining warranty, and this is before future kids are even born. so i guess i would need it longer. guess you could always go extended.

as Chief stated, it seems like his 8 yr old 5-wagon is still going strong. personally, a 5-series wagon would be ideal, if they are re-introducing them, i could probably pick up a slightly used one in 18 months (maybe). definitely worth thinking about.

youre going allroad?

My BMW warranty parts/labor was for 5/100K: remainder of factory warranty (3) plus 2 years CPO plus 50K. They don't do that any more though. That's a very compelling argument/reason to go with the allroad charliemike

Looks like another 2 years in the current car before I get to buy a new 530(5?) xiT CPO

seriously cross-shopped the 328 wagon and allroad today.

walked away strongly disappointed. both cars were extremely claustrophic - perhaps it was the tunnel like cabin on a narrow chasis. i could see the 5 series wagon being much more acceptable. and to further note, the allroad rear seat was not adult friendly. to have either car function as a road tripper seems like a far stretch.

in the end, i was very quickly drawn to the X3 and Q5 in lieu of the respective wagon.

Yeah, the 3 is too small and has been for a long time but less so now than in the past. My 5 is the perfect size. At times it looks big but never from the inside, including the cargo area behind the seats. I just don't have it in my DNA to own a sport ute.

does the x3 have that big of a handling deficit from the 3 wagon?

I couldn't answer that but I would say undoubtedly it must given the emphasis on handling BMW puts in 3 series cars.

Man, it's almost impossible to find an Allroad with the Sport Interior package.

There's one on the East Coast for sale as a CPO.

Not adult friendly? More like not 7ft tall adult friendly?

i dont know how big you guys are but i am 6'1 and the backseat is plenty big enough for me.

F30 is probably the biggest 3 series so far. but of course compare to X3 and 5 series it is much smaller.

you're asking the wrong person. i thought even the back of the 5-series was underwhelming. (im 6'0", 185).

i had big hopes in going the euro CPO route, but after doing the math, a 3 year old CPO, with 3-year remaining hold (during warranty) just doesnt seem worth it when you could lease for 36 months. although, this only holds true when leasing with one of those NYC leasing brokers, who could effectively match monthly lease payments, while slashing the 2-4k down payment.

in a ditch effort, ive re-directed focus on the 2015 Genesis and JGC Limited. i think ive found that value and space take top priority for me....and for some reason, the GLK boxy interior is VERY appealing.
