Alpina B5 Wagon...... With a lot more torque than an M5... BMW B5 Wagon
I already posted this in another thread, but this was my rental during our trip to Europe.
I really liked it, on the flight back I thought to myself “wait doesnt Alpina have a 5 touring?” I navigate over to bmwusa only to realize that not only is that not an option, but the next gen 5 series is uglier than the last outgoing model.

Why can’t there be an E39 M5 touring…
Crazy. I mean, Audi brought over the A6 (albeit in the All Road guise), plus the RS6 Avant

yeah what is up with the offroad-y wagons. Like the Porsche Taycan CrossTurismo with the plastic cladding and higher ride height even on a turbo trim, what is this shit! Atleast the GTS trim is “Sport” turismo meaning that for me, if I can’t get that one, I can’t afford one.
About the RS6 avant, I absolutely drooled over that car, then I saw it’s heavier than my minivan, which is odd, but ok. It still has the thrust of the falcon heavy rockets, but my neighbor knew someone that had one and if memory serves me right, outside of straight line, it felt pretty numb. So this sort of ruined my fantasy.
now I saw this in Europe which got me super excited… but we don’t get them in the USA…
and he was followed by his buddy in another sexy wagon…
E63S Estate would be my 'i won the lotto & want to keep miles off my Gullwing' DD
I'd be happy with a W211 S/C E55
For a non-factory custom, I'd get a W123 wagon & put a W203 C32 drivetrain in it.
Same. My next car was supposed to be a w213 E63 Estate but then the pandemic happened and used prices skyrocketed. I'll probably never get one now
don’t lose hope! You can do it! Yeah pandemic recession is a weird joke, exotics doubled in price because of hard times. I feel like half the planet found a free money glitch that I wasn’t in on. I guess some crypto folks cashed out.
I see that Benz also went stupid with only offering the all-terrain as a wagon (outside of the AMG model)…
next gen m5 is rumored to have a wagon variant, but of course it won’t come to the USA. Unless maybe they offer 3 row seating, 14,000 lbs towing capacity and 34 cup holders.
I saw a white one (CLS wagon) years ago in Europe, I thought it was the coolest thing, but now I think I would prefer an E wagon.
Still, really cool car and if one would present itself in my garage, I wouldn’t turn it away.

So I may be going back to Japan next year to live/work. With all the cool cars Japan has, the CLS Shooting Brake is relatively cheap ($10-15K) for a 10 year old but with 30K miles on them. Hardly driven. And the cars are immaculate condition. It's a thought.
That’s a cool STI!
what part of Japan are you going to? Wife and I went there in 2018 and we absolutely loved it.
it was the first time I saw a Toyota Century. I had no clue what it was, but I wanted one.
I lived in Japan twice. 1988-1990 as a Soldier Then I was there 2004-2011. That's how I joined this board, owning 2G TL, Honda Saber. Both times I lived in Okinawa. Little place, very crowded, but had fun. The pic is an S402 Legacy Wagon. I had a 3.0L SpecB Legacy. Click on my avatar for a better look. Or you can dig on here for pics of that awesome car.
Was also in Tokyo last month. I love the country, so much so I could retire there.

Reason: Clarity
Darker color hides the plastics which shouldn’t have been there to begin with. Also, the shape looks so timid. The other wagons in this thread have so much more presence.
I was seriously considering a 2016 E350 wagon but couldn’t find one in the spec I liked that wasn’t grossly overpriced for low mileage. I still thing that’s the best example recently as it’s far less complicated than the E400-450 with its twin turbo or 48v systems.
I really liked the A6 Allroad I test drove back in 2020. But it didn't feel like it was worth $80k. $60-65k, maybe.
I have heard the A6 Allroad Prestige is an incredible car but there’s no way I would ever pay $80K for one. But they hold their value really, really well because they are so rare.
